Danfor Painting & Remodeling Reviews (1)

Danfor remodeled a bathroom. Sloppy work on walls and trim has to be redone. Plumbing was wrong on shower. Had to pay $506 for new plumber. You pay them in cash. I will have to have someone else come in and fix uneven places on the wall. Fix trim and paint next to trim in several places due to sloppy work. Major errors in plumbing the way shower was hooked up. They said they could adjust a valve with a screwdriver. Wrong. I talked with several good plumbers and I had to tear out the new shower or cut a hole in my den wall which is there now. And I have to pay to repair that.My income is very limited, on social security for health reasons. New plumber fees to fix shower was $506. Now I still have to fix places on the wall that look terrible. They finished on July 30th. No receipt and has to be paid in cash. Desired SettlementDanfor is listed on [redacted] with an A+ rating. That should be changed so they don't draw in someone else with false information. [redacted] says he has done this for 50 years. His work is sloppy and now I have another major expense to fix the problems. It looks terrible. I told him to be sure to clean off the top of the shower. It has paint all over it. When painting the walls and trim he used no straight edge or tape and got tan paint all over white trim. Looks awful. Sloppy work! He should have a rating with Revdex.com of F.Business Response On approximately 7/10/2015, I (Danny Forrester) owner of Danfor Painting and Remodeling received a call from Ms. LaDonna Moore requesting an estimate to remodel her bathroom, Paint her foyer, greatroom and master bedroom. I met with Ms. Moore and she approved the bid. We began working at her residence on 7/21/15. We did a complete remodel of her bathroom, Ms. Moore was present at all times during the remodel. On the 24th we received a work draw and received full payment on the 29th. Ms. Moore was scheduled to have sinus surgery on the 31st. She asked that we work half a day on the 30th giving her time to rest before her surgery. We agreed. Before we left Ms. Moore approved the work and asked us to return on Monday to start painting the other rooms. I then told Ms. Moore that if she found anything wrong let me know and on monday we would correct any problems. Everything including the plumbing was working when we left the premises. On Saturday, 8/1/15 I received a text from Ms. Moore stating that her surgery was a lot more extensive that she thought. She wanted to wait until Wed. to get started on the rest of the rooms. She also stated that she found some places with tan paint, I told her I would come and take care of that and she said no. That is something I can do myself. She said she would call me and find out what all we needed material wise to complete the painting. She also said at the end of the text "Hope you are well". Next I heard from Ms. Moore was Tues. 8/4. She said her shower was not working properly. And that she had called another plumber to come out and he wanted to charge her 500.00 to correct what he claimed to be the problem. Again when we left the shower was working properly and Ms. Moore was happy. I tried to tell Ms. Moore that I would come back and look at the shower, that it had to be a minor adjustment. She refused. I never had the opportunity to correct any problems she may have encountered. She then told me to come and pick up my ladder she would have it on her front porch. I did everything I could do to make her happy. I would never leave a customer unsatisified. Danny Forrester, Owner Danfor Painting and Remodeling. The only complaint letter we received was dated Sept. 7 2015. from Revdex.com.Consumer Response I am replying on 10-3-2015 since I received your letter on 10-2-2015. I hope it is received by 10-5. Part of what Mr. Danfor said is true and part of it isn't. Enclosed is his card and I initially did not mention the bedroom as you can see on the back where his quote is. I could go on and on and argue numerous points about the entire situation but there is no need to. He did leave tan paint on white trim in numerous places, tan paint of the top of the new shower (he said he would fix but but didn't) and uneven spots on the walls. He said my walls were (?) No he tore the sheet rock. And they were painted evenly before he came. Also, I had to pay to get someone to fix all the bad areas and now it looks fine. This complaint is not about all the above. It is about the plumbing. When he left , yes, you could turn the water on in the shower. I didn't use it on 7-30 because I was allowing the caulk to dry for 24 hours. I went to the hospital on the 31st of July and used the other bathroom's shower due to surgery. Couldn't take a shower until the night of the 3rd. There was no hot water. I called the following companies and explained the problem: Greenway, Don Huckably, Roto Rooter, Rooter Man and Conway. They all said the same thing- a hole had to be cut in a nearby wall and the least expensive would be to cut a whole in a wall. I agreed to use Conway and that is what I did. In addition to the $506 charge (receipt copy enclosed) I had to pay someone else to fix the wall. When I told Mr. Danfor this, he said someone must have messed with it. No one climbed into the wall and did that. He said he could have taken the plate off and adjusted it with a screw driver. Wrong. Pipe had to be cut and all the major companies I called said the same thing. They weren't wrong. I have gone to a lot of extra expense, time and aggravation over Mr. Danfor. However, I sum it up to making a very bad choice in selecting him. So to be as fair as I can, I am only asking for the plumbing charges. I had to also pay for fixing sloppy work, fixing the bad walls in the bath and fixing the hole in the den wall. But I only expect to be repaid the plumbing charges since so many major companies told me the exact same thing. I am sorry this isn't typed but my computer isn't working. Final Business Response In response to the letter we received from Ms. Moore via the Revdex.com my response remains virtually the same. According to Ms. Moore's statement in this letter, she feels as though I should pay the plumbing charges she incurred from calling Conway Plumbing Services. I disagree. As I stated before, when I completed the job on Friday, Ms. Moore was present, she admitted in her statement everything was working, she paid us in full for that part of the work. Again everything was in working order and Ms. Moore was happy. What may or may not have happened after I left the jobsite is unknown to me. I spoke with Ms. Moore on Sunday and as I said before she ask us to come back on Wednesday because her surgery was more intense than she had anticipated. We agreed. Nothing was said to me about the shower not working properly. I was not notified about a problem until after she had called Conway and had the plumber on her premises. Therefore I was never given the opportunity to correct a problem if in fact there was one. She made the decision not to call me and have it resolved at no additional cost to her, instead she made the decision to call Conway, knowing she would have to pay the bill. She made this choice.I never refused to help her in anyway, in fact I made the statement to her on Friday before leaving, that if over the weekend she saw anything that we may have missed (paint wise) or any problems I would be happy to correct it on Monday. That was the day we were originally scheduled to come back and start on another project for her. She again agreed. But as you see, that did not happen. I take complaints against me very seriously, but also expect a homeowner to let me know if they are unhappy with anything, in fact, I always tell them to let me know. That is only ethical, not calling another contractor without trying to resolve the matter with me. If it were something that I could not do, I would be the first to suggest calling in another contractor, however in this matter it would have been an easy fix, had I been given the opportunity. In closing, everything Ms. Moore needed done could have been done by me at no extra charge to her. I hate that she is unhappy, I have always gone above and beyond to insure that I have happy and satisfied customers. This is very unfortunate. I sincerely hope that this clears up any misconceptions and this matter is resolved. Danny Forrester
