Daniels Construction, Inc. Reviews (1)

Review: Hired [redacted] to pour basement foundation and continue with const. of log home at site in [redacted]. His name appears on building permit issued by city. Submitted a set of detailed const drawings to both himself and the city. These plans showed requirements for the basement and side porch footers. I was not present on site the day of the pour, back in Ohio working. I now live in the home, moved here and have serious problem with the walkout porch slab cracked with a 1" gap and as a result the walkout deck above is out of alignment because of the lack of support. This is a serious safety hazard and have hired a local constractor tofix asap. When he dug out below the right vertical post their was no concrete footer at all but some fill dirt resulting in the slab crack. This is clearly a violation of all codes.

I remember at the time of pour he called to Ohio asking for $1,000. to supervise and act as inspection to it. I paid by check.

I could not believe if I had not seem it myself , no footer. I have pics and witnesses to back these statements up.Desired Settlement: Looking for a refund of $2500.00 for at least a partial reimbursement. To replace this footer with all labor and mat'l will be at least $3500.00

Response:

If this is the second notice, I didn't get the first one.

If this problem occurred or was noticed on June 1 why did [redacted] not call me or [redacted] the concrete guy at that time. He has all [redacted]'s invoices and contact numbers.

I did get a call from [redacted] maybe a couple weeks ago while I was in Minnesota dealing with concerns on my elderly parents. I called him back with no response back from him. I would like to see the pictures, of course talking to his witness I am sure would be fruitless.

[redacted] has a very good reputation for high quality work and is very surprising that there would be a problem, I would expect maybe a ground water problem or an excessive amount of pressure was placed on that post from the roof load because of the log walls settling.

I do not recall asking for a thousand dollars specifically to monitor that part of the construction process.

Revdex.com,

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

I did call [redacted], appx 2 months ago, no response. The same with [redacted], left a message no response.

The footers if installed properly, as the prints called for would have held the load as designed for.

I have chk# [redacted] and [redacted] that correspont to the foundation cost and [redacted] fee from Fifth Third bank in Ohio. These are datedJune 26th and July 17th respectively.

I will have to submit the pics and have the corner of the foundation in questiion.

Response:

These pics show the concrete crack from a couple angles and the 2" vertical fall off. Also shown the shovel where the footer should have been placed. Finally, the last pics are the piece dragged out showing a level view. Again, this is in the process of being repaired as I could not be sure of a structural failure of the deck and porch roof structure.

Response:

I already responded to this a long time ago, if [redacted] would have contacted the concrete guy [redacted], who he had contact with during his construction or myself right away by way of e mail or other message he said the first of June he dicovered the problem. we would have been there and fixed it. The cost for me and [redacted] probably less than a yard of concrete which is about $100. The labor would have been minimal also, placing temporary supports while the concrete problem is fixed.

I was in Mn. taking care of my elderly parents when he left me a message that was hard to understand. I returned the call with no answer. The next notice on this was with Revdex.com instead of him trying to contact either [redacted] or myself.
