Dan's Auto Tech Reviews (2)

Review: My 1984 Chevy Caprice Wagon would stall when I put it in gear. My mother was in town, so we found a nearby towing company, Dan's Auto Tech & Towing. I called them for the tow and I told them my car needed and ignition switch - they said they could do it - it is an "easy fix". They towed my car on April 9th to their shop for repair 115.00. 2 weeks went by and my mother called them to see what was going on. She was told that it was a "back-burner job". She told them she would like to take the car somewhere else and was told it would cost 100.00 for labor for "wire tracing". She asked what the problem was and was told it needed a starter. She asked if they COULD fix the car or not and was told that they could have it done in 2 days. Another 2 weeks went by and no phone call from Dan's. I called and was told they could not find the right starter. 2 more days went by and I called again. They found the right starter, but the ignition switch needed replaced - which is what I told them in the first place. They drilled holes in my dashboard - for no reason - to put some kind of ignition button in without my permission. Another 2 weeks went by and I called again. They said my car was "ready". I got a ride to pick it up. When I arrived my car was running and I was told that my battery drained. This was a new battery. As I was driving home I noticed that my dome light had been left on which drained my battery. These are the things that Dan's Auto Tech had broken: Holes in Dashboard, High-Beam Switch is not connecting, NO Back-up Lights, 4-Ways or Turn Signals. My horn honks when key is put in the ignition, Windshield Washer Fluid squirts non-stop when I use my Wipers, Steering Wheel replaced incorrectly and miscellaneous electrical tape and wires all over the place.I took the car back so they could fix their damage the second week of June. Had my car another 3 weeks. I went and got it and NOTHING was repaired. At NO TIME did they EVER call me, I had to call them repeatedly. They have vandalized my car.Desired Settlement: I would like 500.00 so that I can have the damage they caused to my car repaired. Also, 500.00 for having to go without my car for nearly 2 months.

Review: I had my vehicle towed to Dan's Auto Tech in Penn Hills to have my fuel pump replaced on my 2011 Chevy Malibu on June 17th 2014. After multiple delays, [redacted] the mechanic called and let me know to come pick up my car on Monday morning June 23rd 2014. I arrived at the shop to pickup my vehicle at 10 am to find no one at the shop and my car was not there. After multiple calls I discovered my car was at the home of one of the mechanics and that he would not be able to get the car to me until 9 PM that evening. When I received my vehicle there was over half a tank of gas missing and 211 miles put onto my car from the time it was towed to their location until I got my vehicle back. When I received my car there was an engine light on and the airbags were not functioning for the passenger side of the vehicle. The warning lights we not on the vehicle before I had the car towed to the shop. I immediately asked about what was going on with the car and [redacted] tried to inform me that it was a recall on the vehicle and not his problem to correct. He took another look at my car and did not fix any of the problems that were created during the repairs at the shop. After I researched and found that there are no recalls on this vehicle I attempted to contact the mechanics 5 times over the course of two weeks. No one was at the shop on two visits and no one answered the four calls I placed. They refused to correct the problems created during the attempted repairs. MY car is now unsafe to drive and is no able to be inspected as result.Desired Settlement: I desire a refund of the $960 for the repairs that were done incorrectly, or to have them pay for the vehicle to have the problems corrected that were created during the repair at another mechanic or dealer location.
