Dan's Movers Reviews (2)

Review: We hired this company/Person to move our personnel & home belongings from our old house/Address in [redacted] to our new House/Address,in [redacted]. He/they was suppose to arrive on Nov. 18,2013 @ 9:00AM. He did not show up an we did not hear from him till I called him around 10:15AM that morning. He stated that his Main Moving Van had broken down and that he needed to find or rent another truck. We did not hear back from him again till around noon time when he said he was going to rent a truck. He then showed up at 12:30 that afternoon and dropped off one of his workers and said he had to pick up his other truck which had all of his moving equipment. He then returned back at 1:30PM with it and another worker. They then started to move our belongings. It became very clear that the two young men he had hired being he said his usual crew did not show up that day were totally un-experienced and had no clue as to how to move furniture. They kept running into walls and other things that were there. They had no clue as to how to lift properly and get it through a door way etc. It took them a total of Twelve & 1/2 Hours to complete the move. They scratched numorous items and dented some and also damaged a brand new mattress that was in original plastic and a protective cover bought by my son. They dragged it and ripped open the cover and rapping and soiled the mattress as well as punctured the mattress with wood splinters from dragging it on the wooded floor of the moving truck. When they were done he said he was charging me for the full 13 hours and they took coffee & Dinner break but did not take the time off the bill which came to $1300.00 He asked forcash but I only had around half in cash and paid the balance with a check. He never gave me a Contract or Moving invoice which I repeatedly asked for. I have repeately called him, texted him and e-mailed him for the cost of the damaged and he kept telling mehe would take care of it but to date. The replacement cost of the mattress + delivery is $950.00Desired Settlement: Please pay for damaged New Mattress & delivery cost.

Review: I'd hired Dan's Movers previously when the owner was [redacted]. I was pleased, so needing to move, I contacted co. again. I learned that [redacted], [redacted]'s son in law had taken over the business. I was asked for cash to be paid on day of move. The day of move,March 6, 2014, the movers were almost 2 hours late. I'd to call [redacted] to ask what was the delay. I should had known I was in for problems with the delay. While moving, I could hear the movers swearing, they were asked to taper it. I heard [redacted] say more than once, "you get what you pay for". I told them to be very careful with the mattress, it was brand new. [redacted] asked for partial cash before their lunch break, so he could put gas in his trunk & stop for lunch. It took them an hour & 15 minutes from leaving my condo to arrive at my new address. When it was time to pay for a total of 7 hours @ $130.00 per hour, I questioned why I'm paying for their lunch 1/2 hour. I was told that they charge to driving to first stop & time leaving from last, which was never explained to me when hiring Dan's Movers. [redacted] rounded cost to $900.00. But the biggest upset was to find out a week later, when removing slipcover, that the movers had made a HUGE tear starting at the top back & going down back of my couch. They had covered it with masking tape & never had the nerve to tell me. They actually insisted that they recover the couch with the cover they had removed when moving couch, since it's a sleeper & sleeper unit had to be secured during moving. Of course, they covered it to cover the HUGE tear. I called [redacted], screaming at him, he replies by emailing me an invoice listed less money then I'd given in cash. I've emailed, no reply. I mailed a letter to him, asking a refund of at least 3 hours labor, stated I would contact Revdex.com, IRS & dept for seniors, since I feel his company is one big scam, no reply. It's a shame [redacted] has kept his name to be used by a person who doesn't share the same work ethics!Desired Settlement: Full cost replacement of sleeper bed couch
