Review: In Feb 2013, [redacted] was consulted to begin pool service. He recommended that I purchase a brand new pump system to clean up and maintain the pool. For approx $2000, he built the system from the ground up. However, he was unable to clean up the pool so I drained, cleaned & refilled it for him, starting fresh. I also purchased a brand new pool sweep. On July 4th, our pool was green and a leak developed in one of the new pipes he installed. When contacted, he said the pool being green wasn't unusual for the amount of sun and a valve had been turned the wrong way causing the leak. After a couple more weeks, I finally go him to fix the leak, however by 8/3/13, a black algae problem developed. [redacted] refused to recognize the problem, stating things like perhaps it was a plant residue. The black algae worsened every week, though I kept scrubbing at it daily. By 8/27 I took a water sample to another supplier and found my pool had no calcium, was low in chlorine and alkalinity. [redacted] continued to deny that it was even a black algae problem. I had been paying [redacted] for weekly chemical pool service. By the end of August (after again addressing this to him), he "quit". I asked him to bring my pool back to full health or reimburse me for the chemicals and/or service I would have to purchase elsewhere to fix the problem. He not only refused, he started sending me new invoices for fixing the leak on his newly installed equipment and putting in the pool sweeper (which were all voluntary at the time since I had spent thousands). I had to hire another pool service, who quickly identified that I indeed had a bad black algae problems. Over the course of two weeks, they were able to treat my pool and get it back up. The charge was $350. [redacted] was not able to (1) admit that a leak that developed from a system he installed should have just been taken care of (2) identify or treat a black algae problem. Due to person health issues, I have been unable to lodge my complaint until now but must get this recorded!Desired Settlement: Reimbursement of $ 350 charge from other pool company to fix the black algae problem. Reimbursement for pool service for July 2013.
