The customer states that it was most likely the PTO clutch. We did not replace the PTO clutch. A Clutch as you would thing of as a clutch in a car or truck. This tractor has a PTO clutch like the one in a car, and a PTO overrunning clutch inside the rear end of the tractor that lets the tractor stop without pushing the tractor when using a rotary cutter. This is not the PTO clutch it is actually an assembly with a one way bearing inside. The part was that was bad was over $1700.00. This is only the second one we have ever seen go bad in our forty years as a [redacted] dealer. He was given an estimate for the regular clutch of $1200.00 which the odds said it was. Again we did not replace the PTO clutch as he states in his letter. He does not have a new PTO clutch. We want that understood so if it does go out down the road he does not think it was replaced. This was not the part that was bad and there is no way to know until you separate the tractor which is bad. One is in the front of the transmission’ the PTO clutch and the other the PTO overrunning clutch is in the rear of the transmission, the one we replaced. We hate the customer is unhappy with the price of his repair bill. We will be happy to discuss the bill with him but we can not repair the tractor for the estimate for the PTO clutch...
