have owners present within the hospital for procedures on their pets. This is also an emergency hospital, which can be very busy. We need full access to our patients and equipment and cannot allow owners to walk freely in our emergency treatment area. This was nicely explained in this situation. An ultrasound was performed on this pet by a board certified internist and the results promptly relayed to the owner. Just as with people, diagnostic testing may be necessary to determine the cause of an illness. In this case, the owner did not consent to many of our recommendations.According to our records, the owner was kept apprised of the situation and condition of her pet at all times. With serious illnesses, there can be sudden changes. In this instance, there was a change in the pet's condition. It is always painful to lose a loved one. Rather than focus on the precious time the owner had with the pet, it seems they are choosing to take out their pain on the animal hospital and place blame. Hopefully, in time, the owner will be able to put things into proper perspective.The cursing and rudeness we would hope were due to the pain they were feeling. Social media removed posts by the owner, due to repeated inappropriate language, etc. Just as with humans, even with the best possible care, patients sometimes pass away.
