I went out on 6/19/found A/C low on freon, pumped it down into the outside unit and pressured up to pounds to the inside
unit with nitrogen, found a leak at suction valveEvacuated and let go freon into the inside unit, put yellow teflon tape (made for gases) on caps on suction and discharge valves, charged up unit, checked operation, all okReplaced water heater and dishwasher with appliances she had, checked operations, all okWas there from 3:to 9:pm, charged her $for replacing the water heater and the dishwasher,as we agreed on.The other $was for repairing the A/CI went back on 7-and found it was low on freon again, so I pumped all the freon out of the entire unit and pressured it up with nitrogen to psi and held it for min, and had no leak, but found one of the valve cores leaking so I replaced both just for good measuresPut a new freon in that was a direct replacement in and then found the fan motor stopping because it was getting hot due to dry bearings, so I replaced itI did not charge her for the new freon or fixing the leak just for replacing the fan motor which I thought was fairIf it had a big hole in the A-coil like she said I would have caught that with the nitrogen pressure testbut it held that same pressure for minIt must have blowed the hole in the A-coil after I leftThe check for the $was posted lateHer balance with me is $as of today's date 11/6/I do not believe I am being unfair to think she should pay the balance as I did not charge her for the 2nd amount of freon, the service charge for the 2nd visit, nor the labor to find and fix the 2nd leakWhich I thought was fairAll of this was explained to the Customer at the time and she thought this was fairAs she was ok with the bill of the first visit, she stated that $was all she could pay and would send the rest to me later
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 16, 2015/11/19) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
About Pat's Services
Though the business has corrected their mistake and applied payment they had received a year ago, they still have done nothing to dissolve the remaining chargesFreon that they put into a significantly leaking unit was wasted within hours and then billed to the customerThey were called about the same Central Air Conditioning issue three times and never could find the prominent issue another certified technician found in under minutesDue to:
The inability to find an obvious issue that should have been found by a professional
Material that went to waste due to their error of missing the main problem
Labor billed using a "trial and error" system that was not successful
The lack of proper wait time to ensure proper repair
THIS SHOULD NOT RESULT IN THE CONSUMER'S FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITYI do feel that as the customer paying for a fan motor replacement (parts and labor) that was too hot and/or ruined due to running without Freon; I was more than generous with this service providerThe problem could not be resolved by this companyAnother certified technician was called out on the THIRD time and the problem was immediately fixedAt this point I ended up paying the second company what the problem would have initially ensued as well as money to the first disputed companyIn addition the first company (Pat's Services) is now asking for MORE money (For the wasted Freon and labor attempting to solve the issue)I am sorry that so much time and money was wasted messing with the system and that they could not find the main causeI am not looking to ruin their reputationHowever, I feel that since I hired this business to do the job they were advertised for (fixing central air units) and they could not indeed "fix" my central air unit, that payment was not fairly billed
Final Business Response /* (4000, 21, 2015/11/24) */
Be advised I will be writing off Ms***'s balance of $as of November 25, I am doing this under duress as I have written before what I did and how I charged and what I did not charge because of the ensuing leakI do have a good reputation in my communityIf I work on a unit, and the problem still exist and I have to return, I do not charge the customer for labor or partsHowever, if there is a new problem, I do charge for that as in this instanceIt was not a "trial and error" issue and she was only charged the labor for the new problem her unit had
Thank you for your time and consideration in this matterHopefully this will take care of the matter for Ms***
