Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business, Data Recovery Services, in reference to complaint ID ***, and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me, due to this being a mistake. I will wait for the business, Data Recovery
Services, to provide me with my data that they successfully recovered from my USB thumb drive, as it was verified that they retrieved it in our phone conversations as well as sending screen grab proof of the recovered data The lengthy process of this transaction was due to the need for software updates to recover the data and because of the extended timeline, *** *** of Data Recovery Services, has agreed to provide the data without any additional cost to me and my company Affairs To Be Remembered Inc, as per our phone conversation on Tuesday May 27, at 5:pm Data Recovery Services agrees to perform this action and, if it does, I will consider this complaint resolved and a satisfied customer

Revdex.com:
In reference to complaint ID [redacted], the business has not taken action to resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details appear below.
My wife spoke with [redacted] of Data Recovery Services last week and was told that action would be taken to resolve this matter.  Specifically, Ms. [redacted] confirmed over the phone and in an e-mail that our property (a hard drive) would be returned along with a history of all work performed.  Ms. [redacted] said in the phone conversation and in the e-mail that the drive and accompanying information would be sent no later than Friday, June 20, and that a tracking number would be sent to my wife via e-mail to confirm.  As of today we have received nothing from Ms. [redacted].  Because the situation is therefore ongoing, this complaint should remain open.

Review: We had a hard drive crash on a machine in our shop. We searched for a data recovery company to help us recover the data and install it on a new hard drive. We dropped off our old drive and a new drive to Data Recovery Services. They first quoted $550.00 for the service, but after "inspecting" the drive determined it would be $2,500.00. I then stated I would need to pick up the drives due to the extreme cost increase for the service and they dropped the cost to $1,599.99, but then needed the payment up front. I dropped off a check on 1/21/16 and after three weeks we had no drives, not data, and nothing for our money. I have requested our drives and money back for services not rendered, but have gotten the run around the multiple times I have called them. They said due to the physical damage of the drive they could not guarantee the data recovery, although the website does not state that, it does say no data no charge. At this point we have nothing for the $1,599.99 they took, not even our original drives or to know if they did anything at all other than simply take our money.Desired Settlement: It is simple, they did nothing to help us recover the data from our hard drive, services were not rendered, we want our money back.

Regards,

Review: On October 15, 2013 I bumped my USB thumb drive while it was in my computer thus resulting in the thumb drive to work 100%. I contacted DSR Data Recovery Services to have them recover the data on the thumb drive. I dropped off my thumb drive to an [redacted] office hub that sent my thumb drive to DSR. I was contacted by my sales rep [redacted] from DRS and had to select a service package. I chose the $200.00 package because I want the data on the thumb drive but I didn't need it in a rush. From October 16, 2013 until now March 28, 2014 I have sent numerous email and left many phone messages to find out the status of my thumb drive. I was contact by and engineer [redacted] informing me that they had to purchase a special "program" in order to get the data off of my thumb drive. He said he needed 3 weeks for that...that was 6-7 weeks ago. I can not get any response from this company. I am convinced I am being scammed. They have my thumb drive and all of my data on it and I have no recourse. What do I do??? I am being completely taken advantage of and I don't know how to proceed. They have my money, my thumb drive, and all of my data...I need desperate help and direction. Please let me know how to proceed.Desired Settlement: I want to receive my recovered data from my thumb drive that DRS has had since October 16, 2013. I paid for a service that I have not received.

Regards,

Review: I paid +/-$1,000 for hard drive recovery service. Data Recovery Services was quick to contact me and consult, and quickly had me send in my hard drive and payment. However, once payment was received I never received word back from them; I called multiple times, emailed, and did everything I could to keep in contact with them and get updates. Occasionally I would catch someone on the phone, who would then state that they were "contacting the technicians" or some such, and that they would "get back to [me] tomorrow". Online my case number disappeared, and when I called and emailed and pestered, I finally got a hold of someone, who then repeated the litany of "it's still there, but I have to ask the technician". They did NOT get back to me. So now I am out a thousand dollars and my hard drive, which had I not sent to them I could have found a more reputable company to help.Desired Settlement: I would like either the job to be finished or a refund with my hard drive. I the services are performed, I will be satisfied, but if not I want my money and old hard drive back so I can try again somewhere that will actually performed advertised services.

Review: In March, 2015, a severe electrical surge hit our office & damaged the external hard drive that office documents were being scanned to. Upon calling our IT consultant he advised that he had found a website for “Data Recovery Services” in Albuquerque that guaranteed services. Our hard drive was mailed on 3/30/15 to Data Recovery Services in Albuq, NM. It was received by their office on 4/1/15. On 4/13/15, I received a call stating that they received the hard drive, however, they needed a check for payment in order to start & that it would take approx. 2 weeks to complete. On 4/4/15, I mailed a check to the same address & it was cashed, not deposited into a company account, on 4/22/15. Numerous calls were made to the Albuquerque number, many of which were not answered/returned. The few calls that were returned, we were informed that progress was being made but they needed another couple of weeks before completion. On 11/9/15, my assistant called to check on progress & was informed that the recovery was 98% complete & for us to call back on Fri. On Fri, we called & had to leave a message on voicemail. No return call was received. On 11/16/15, we called again, only to be told that the data was “unrecoverable”, that the drive was totally damaged & that there would be no refund. When the representative was asked for the name of the owner or President & the address, she informed me that she would not give me that information. I asked for a refund & the return of my hard drive & was informed that that would not be forthcoming. On Wed, 11/18/15, my husband drove to Albuquerque to request the return of the hard drive. When he arrived at the address on their website, he found that this address is a “mail drop” only & not an actual address for this company. Upon asking for the individual related to this business, he was merely given a business card with a California cell phone number & website. This is clearly an individual stealing money from the unsuspecting public.Desired Settlement: In resolution of this matter, I request that not only the hard drive be returned in the same condition as it was received by them, but also that the amount paid be returned as advertised on their website.

Review: Marketing: Data Recovery Services' website (http://datarecoveryservices.net/) claims that it is Revdex.com accredited; Revdex.com.org says it is not.

Failure to deliver service: Data Recovery Services agreed to perform data recovery services on our failed hard drive for $500 in September of 2013, case number of [redacted]. My wife and I have contacted the company numerous times over the past 8 months to inquire about status, each time we were given the response: "we have to order more parts" and "we are working under a tight budget" as the reason for failure to perform service in a reasonable timeframe. Finally, we asked for a refund and a return of the broken hard drive on 5/12/14 and thus far have not heard a response. Company representatives, including [redacted], are consistently belligerent and rude, seemingly berating us until we just agree to accept further delay.Desired Settlement: Full refund of the $500 price and a return of the hard drive in "as is" condition.

Response:

My husband and I filed a complaint with you against Data Recovery Services on 5/15/14. They have not responded to the complaint, but I spoke to them this week and we were able to resolve our problem. They did acknowledge receiving the complaint, although obviously they did not respond. I logged in to our complaint on Revdex.com.org to request that the complaint be removed but I can't see a way to do that. Is there a way to request that it be removed, or at least notify the company that it is not being pursued and that they no longer have to respond? The responses to our complaint were sent by [redacted].

Thanks for your help,

[redacted] and [redacted]
