[redacted] allegation that DateMySchool runs off with funds is simply not true. In fact, it is impossible for DateMySchool to charge users without a multi-step process that they must go through.  In order to be charged for the service, a user must 1) sign on, 2) select a premium plan, 3) input their payment information for Paypal, a debit card, or a credit card, and then 4) confirm on the checkout page.Like many subscription services, such as [redacted] and [redacted], DateMySchool has recurring charges to prevent an interruption in service. Review: I received an e-mail indicating that a person was interested in meeting me on datemyschool.com. I signed up but there was no one and they did not provide any information. There were no more than 20 people, and, quite frankly, I think they got sloppy with fake marketing toward 18-21 year old undergrads. Perhaps they should buy better advertising lists. I think it is abhorrent that they would make up fake [redacted] addresses just to fool people into signing up. It's unethical and I really don't feel that they should get rich on manipulating people's wishes. They shouldn't 'fake' a name when there IS no name. I get the SPAM from [redacted] and such because I started a profile at some point, but even they don't invent false people to draw you in.Desired Settlement: I want the $19.00 back that I paid for the month. I'm 39 years old. I'm not going to meet anyone via their service, and they know it. There weren't even 20 people available to look at in my area.

Review: Business presents itself as a more mature social media site but uses either internally generated messages or pays users to create accounts to message other users. Normally not a problem but the fact is one cannot read messages unless they subscribe to a monthly service. This tactic is employed by the worst of the social/dating sites bottom feeders. The bottom line is they misrepresent themselves as a PREMIUM-SECURE-PRIVATE social site but seem to be trying to scam people into subscribing. Easy test make a profile and do not add any information I bet you get messages regardless. Good Luck, happy huntingDesired Settlement: Prove me wrong

Review: When paying for a "membership" the site falsely advertises its price. It says "$3/month" so I clicked on that thinking I would be charged $3, but instead the actually price was $72 which is NOT mentioned during joining. I tried to talk to their customer support to try to get a refund but they said tough luck.Desired Settlement: Refund the full $72 payment or at least $69 ($72 minus the $3 that I actually thought was going to pay)

Review: Appears to be a scam. I was contacted by email that someone on this online dating site wanted to contact me. In order to find out who it was I had to subscribe. I was charged 103.99 upfront for a deceptive subscription that claimed it was 1.99 a month discounted. They charged me up front with no way to cancel and no refund. I contacted them immediately (the same day) and said that this was a mistake and I wanted them to refund my money and cancel my subscription. They emailed back and said that I would be charged up front and no refunds. I also never did find out who had contacted me and believe they were using our school email lists to scam college students.Desired Settlement: I would like my debit purchase of 103.99 credited back to my bank account

Review: I am a student at USF Tampa and received an email from datemyschool.com inviting me to subscribe to their dating service, which claims that their service can connect you to single students and alumni of the university you attend. Normally I do not receive advertisements or solicitations on my university email, as I only use it to communicate with my instructors and classmates. It is a mystery how this company obtained my university email to begin with. I am a divorced working mother attending college and don't have time to meet new people and was interested in meeting other singles my age at USF, so I subscribed, paying $72.00 for their 24 month membership. But after setting up my profile and entering USF and Tampa in my search perimeters, the results came up with no matches. When I expanded my search to include all institutions in Florida, I got 3 matches, each over 100 miles away. No one can really date someone long-distance, an a return of 3 members, none who were close to my age, was absurd. It is clear that this dating service does not have a large pool of members and can not connect me with single students or alumni of my university as they claim to do. Their name, "DateMySchool" is misleading in of itself. Within an hour of joining, I contacted the company and asked to cancel my membership and refund my money, but the company refused siting their terms of service. My complaint is both for their lack of service and for their false advertising.Desired Settlement: This company needs to refund my money and cancel my membership.
