Dave Nevin roofer

Dave was referred to me by a friend. I was told he was trust worthy and that his daughter was friends with my son. So he would give an honest price. With that said Dave was hired to patch my roof but after he took a look at my roof he Informed me I needed a new roof. It took him almost 3 weeks to put a flat roof with shingles on my house. My house by no means is a large house so I’m not sure what was taking so long since he would come each day Monday through Friday from 8am to 4pm.
One weekend he left up scaffolding which blew over and damaged my kids trampoline, destroyed my gazebo along with my outdoor lighting.
I wish I could say this was the worst of it but once the roof was completed, a storm moved into the area and my “new” began leaking large amounts of water. The water was pouring down from my ceiling in places that did not leak prior to Dave replacing the roof. I have video footage that I sent to Dave so he could see the severity of the problem. Dave informed me that he would come out first thing in the morning which he did but my husband I still are unclear as to what he did when he climbed up in the roof because the next day it rained again and more water came in, but this time it was coming in from my upstairs hallway. My husband had to drill a hole into the ceiling just to drain 2 inches of water that filled my attic. There was so much water that it poured down my stack in my guest bathroom, which goes go through the ceiling out to the roof, down into my brand new kitchen all the way to the basement.
It was ridiculous that we just spent all this money for a new roof and it was like we didn’t even have a roof! Dave came out at least 5 times but he clearly is incapable of fixing the issue because the roof continues to leak to this day. I was forced to contact my homeowners insurance who quoted us $30,000 worth of damage. The water damaged my junction box in my basement and had to be replaced. A mold specialist came out and Installed these very loud mold machines on 3 floors to treat the water damage behind the walls. Which ran for 24hrs. It was like living inside of an airplane engine! We had to gut our bathroom and rip out floors and walls.
Dave will continuously preach that he has “been in business for 30 years and this has never happened before!” But after talking to other customers they all said they had similar experiences. And to add insult to injury Dave was supposed to come back and put a silver coat on my roof which he still has not done and I have a new leak in my bedroom bathroom.
Not sure how he has managed to stay in business for this long. Save yourself the trouble and do your homework because going by word of mouth can cost you nothing but undue stress.

Review: My name is [redacted]. My roofer's name is Dave Nevin. I was referred to him by my girlfriend [redacted] who is his neighbor. I called Dave when I purchased my house in [redacted],Pa, which needed a new roof. Dave gave me a price of $4,000.00. I paid Dave 2,000.00 up front then paid him the balance upon completion. When I contracted his service for the roofing job in January 2013, he got on the job right away because the roof was leaking water causing flooding in the basement and destroying ceilings, walls and floors. He was finished shortly thereafter. I didn't have the need to move in right away. However, I did make periodically checks to the property. I noticed whenever it rained the A-Frame and dormer roof was leaking all over the place including the main floor where porch roof and foyer is located. I called Dave to informed him of these leaks in February, March, April, May and now in June trying to get him to move on this issue. I would always asked Dave to meet me at the house so I can show him the leaks, but he would always say, " I've been to your property and corrected the problem". How could he without showing him the leaking areas?Secondly, Dave also shingled my porch roof. He step-flash outside of the stucco wall leaving it vulnerable for rain water to get behind it. He never prepped the stucco to knocked it out to place tar-paper and to re-stucco over the step flashing. While working on the porch roof he broke a beam the levels the porch roof leaving the area unlevel to pool and puddle water leaving the area wet while the other area of porch roof stay dry after a rain. I want to do other work in the house such as put up new ceilings and floors but cannot due to rain water coming in the house where it is leaking. We're having an awful lot of rain and my basement is filling up with water and the roof is puddling and pooling water. I need emergency help!Desired Settlement: I would like for Dave to replace the roof and/or the area that is leaking and act in good faith of his profession when he agreed to do the job. And, to give me a warranty.
