Review: [redacted] keyboard in undamaged condition was submitted for repair for a specific problem, with a request for additional minor work with the stipulation that this additional work should only be done if at no cost or minimal cost, as I had planned to sell it shortly. At drop-off, business was notified that the instrument was for professional use and time was of the essence, as a replacement had not yet been delivered. I called numerous times to determine the status of the repair, and though I was told that the usual turn-around time was two weeks, work was not even started until the third week. During subsequent phone calls I was informed that the extra work was in process and was an extensive process. I told the repairman not to continue that work, and reiterated what I had said at the initial drop-off, namely that I didn't want that work done unless the cost would be minimal. In another phone conversation, when I asked about the total cost, I was told that the cost, over and above the $75.00 initial deposit, would be approximately $30.00. When I arrived to pick up the supposedly repaired instrument I was informed that the cost was $163.00 more than the $75.00, making a total of $240+ for an instrument worth probably $300 to $400. This was enough for me to initiate this complaint, but worse than the cost, when I had time to inspect the instrument, it became obvious that it had been dropped, compressing the corners of the case and causing a crack in the plastic casing. Further there was much more evidence of mishandling, with marks and scratches in many places, on an instrument that had only a single mark when brought in for repair. The most unsettling, unprofessional, and offensive part of the transaction was that when I disputed the cost, the repairman took the instrument to the parking lot and asked if I wanted to jump on it first or should he. From an instrument that I could have advertised as almost mint, I now have to list the damages when I sell it..Desired Settlement: I would like a refund of the initial deposit of $74.90, and I wish no further contact by the business. The diminished value of my instrument far exceeds any outlay in time and material by the repairman.
