Dave's Pac West Gunsmithing [redacted] Eugene, OR 97402 RevDex.com P.O. Box 1000 DuPont, WA 98327 In reply to ID [redacted] , I would like to respond: On 04-01-15 my customer brought in a Savage 12 rifle with a Horus-Vision Raptor Scope on it. On 04- 03-15 I disassembled... same rifle in preparation to mount barrel in lathe. While removing trigger group, sear spring went flying under the loading bench. This happens to everyone. I looked for it for two hours and did not find it. I called Savage and got a new spring on the way. I then called said customer and told him what happened. (I have a special spot to put scopes at the end of the bench. I work with high dollar scopes, so am very careful with them! In addition, my floor is padded around where I work.) I mounted the barrel in the lathe and cut new threads for muzzle break. I removed barrel from lathe and cleaned and oiled new threads. I then put the barrel in the tray with the trigger group to await new spring. I received the new spring, reassembled rifle and put it in the mounting fixture to mount the scope. I then called the customer and told him it was ready. Three weeks later, the customer brought his rifle back and said that I dropped his scope and broke it. I don't drop scopes. I looked at the scope on the rifle and it looked like it had been dropped in a pile of rocks-that's the damage I saw! I sent said scope back to the factory representative in San Bruno, CA. After talking to [redacted] there, he called me and said that the scope was 5 years old and had been heavily abused. I gave him the customer's phone number on 05-28-15 so that he could speak to him directly. I called my attorney, [redacted] ***, about it and he recommended I offer a peace settlement of $150.00. I then offered customer $125.00 which was $150.00 minus shipping fees of $25.00 to send the rifle to the factory. The customer refused my offer. As it stands now, I'm out the cost of shipping the scope back to the factory rep. in California. Respectfully submitted,
