Dave's Auto Body

Dave's Auto Body took possession of my car to have some body work, be repainted, and interior redone in June of 2018. I was told he would try to have it done by end of that summer. The original estimate of cost was $6000. Dave was initially paid $2000. In Nov. I saw the body pieces primed and ready to be painted, and was told the car would be finished in 3-4 wks. I was asked about color choice. In Feb., 2019, I was called over to shop and again asked about color choice. A second payment of $2000 was given, and was told again it would be finished in 3-4 wks. The following week I was called over to the shop again, and saw the car painted and assembled... a third payment of $2000 was given, and again told it would be finished in 3-4 wks. In May, 2019 I was told there was a few mechanical/wiring problems encountered, and was asked for a fourth payment of $2000 and was told it was paid in full! (I have dated receipts for all 4 payments.). Again I was told it would be done in 3-4 wks. It seemed like every time I contacted him about the status of the car that this was his standard reply. I went over to the shop numerous times, and the car was sitting, with little to no appearance of anything having been done to it. In Aug. I contacted Dave telling him my daughter was getting married in Oct. and would like for it to be finished in time for the couple to drive it away from the wedding. I was assured several times in the following weeks that it would be finished. The wedding date came and went, with no contact at all about the completion of the car. In Nov. I was told they were still working on the wiring, and that again it would be finished in 3-4 wks. It is now April, 2020, and have heard nothing from him since Dec., 2019. I was told by several of his employees that this is how he does business.... he collects money, and then the car sits.
