Review: Driver over charged cab fair, was driving erratically, and was his using cell phone while driving.

August 10,'13; Driver - [redacted]; Cab number - [redacted] Payment made by cash for $34; length of drive - 8 miles; Details - [redacted] picked us up at the super 8 motel to go to Swabbies bar. He ask for the address and was given it immediately. He then used his phone instead of the provided GPS in the car to look up the address. He continued to use his phone on his lap while driving and was swerving all over the road - even crossing the middle line several times. It took him 35 minutes to get to the destination as he did several U turns and continued to add mileage on to the fare. After his third U turn, I advised him that he was only adding mileage on to the fare (the last U turn had added another 4 miles to the trip) and I began to advise him the correct way to go - something that I had already offered to do at the beginning of the trip. He stated that he had only been doing this 3 months and he was doing his best and he didn't think that this was the best route but I "was the customer and it's your money". On arriving at the destination, [redacted] tried to charge us $43 which we refused to pay due to his getting lost so much. He was paid $34 and left. When calling the dispatcher later that night to voice my concerns, she first apologized and said she would send someone else out to pick us up with no charge. Then she called back and said that [redacted] was the only one that could pick us up and we would be paying full price. When advised that this was unacceptable, she began to become upset with me and yell stating that we could call back and speak with the owner in the morning but they were not picking us up without agreeing to the full price. We had the establishment call another cab company to take us back - which charged $24 and only took about 15 minutes to get there. When speaking with [redacted] - the owner - in the morning, he advised that he would be sending a refund of the fare and taking care of the issues. He was very nice and understanding and even stated that the 8 miles should never have been even close to that amount. I waited a month for communication from him or the refund of my fare. I called him again yesterday and he stated that he wasn't going to be sending the refund - that the 8 miles was charged correctly and that he had written up his driver for being on his phone - as the guy admitted that he had been the whole time. He stated that he charges $3 per mile with a $3 pick up fee - even in HIS math, this only came out to $27 meaning that we were STILL overcharged. He didn't like hearing that and still refused the once promised refund. He stated that when we come back, we'll get much better service. When I advised that I would be filing a complaint and letting others in the area know about the service, he hung up on me. Desired Settlement: I would like the refund that the company has now promised 2 separate times - once from the dispatcher stating that we would not pay for the second cab ride and the other from the owner stating that he would be sending out the refund.

We would like to the thank the Revdex.com to try and resolve the matter . However their is more to the issue than stated above and Miss [redacted] has already tried to damage our reputation by posting on review web sites, social media ,and posting on her own web site. We believe any response from us or the Revdex.com efforts to try and resolve this matter is not going to benefit the company on the contrary just escalate it more. We are however gathering evidence and preparing to sue in state court for alleged Character assassination as their is more than enough language on social media that the defendant attacked the owner personally . We again thank the Revdex.com to try and resolve the issue but with no disrespect intended towards the Revdex.com we will not refund any monies nor are we interested in resolving the matter and respect the defendants freedom of speech . This case will be resolved in court, notices of which will be served in due time. Thank you for you concerns.

While I have posted my personal review on Yelp and also let my friends know of the experience (as is my right as a consumer), I have not stated anything more then my opinion of the situation and the facts in the case.
