Classic asks for 10% down and the rest on completion. I gave them the 10% September 11, 2014, and they did not start the deck until November.
They promised to make the interior trim for the patio door similar to other interior trim, but they just put up some flat boards and didn’t even miter the corners. The exterior trim around the floor of the deck was rippled. The upper and lower bolts holding one of the patio doors in position would not operate properly. The deadbolt lock in the other door was inoperable. The space under the deck was inaccessible. The deck is 6 feet off of the ground, and they had said I would be able to easily access that space for utility maintenance and storage.
They finished the basic deck November 2014, but it was July 2015 before they had corrected most of the problems. I say ‘most’ because apparently they have no intention of creating easy access to the space under the deck. Their idea of making it accessible was for me to bend and remove side panels and put them back. Repeated use like this would warp them and even possibly crack them in cold weather. And even if you use this type of access, there is a framing cross piece that forces you to crawl in on all fours.
During the time between November 2014 and July 2015 the company pressured me for payment even though their stated policy is 10% down and the rest on completion. I finally gave in and paid them a few thousand in March 2015, but I was afraid to pay them more for fear that I would never see them again.
Classic’s price was higher than anyone else’s, but I went with them because they were an experienced business with (I thought) a good reputation. I am very disappointed.

Review: I hired this person to clear some trees from the end of my driveway. We agreed on a price that included the removal of 5 trees and having him bring a chipper to shoot the chips into an agreed upon place in my yard as well as cut up the larger pieces and place them there as well. The work was performed on Sept. [redacted] and when [redacted] showed up the crew had done about half the work and it was looking alright. I paid him $550 cash and that was the last I saw of him. The crew left without saying anything and when I went down to check the work I saw trees that weren't supposed to be cut sawed off at the base and just left laying in front of my home and large pieces of other trees just piled along my driveway instead of placed where we agreed which is just feet from where they left them. I called [redacted] and told him I wasn't happy with the work, especially a 30 foot tree left laying in front of my home and he said that he would come back on the [redacted] to correct the problem. The next day when it was light out I also noted that there was quite a few branches sticking out by the entrance to my driveway as a result of his work and asked him to see to that as well. I never heard back from him, but left a message saying that I needed him to come fix the mess he left and he called back once and left me a message that he did some trimming at the end of my driveway. I have left more messages asking for a resolution, but haven't heard back and as I an a [redacted], I can't do the work myself or afford to have someone else finish the job.Desired Settlement: I would like to have the work finished properly or have funds returned to pay someone else to clean up my yard. It looks like a mess after Sandy hit.

I went and met with [redacted] and discussed the issues he had with the work performed by my company. It seems [redacted] and my partner [redacted], who estimated the job and was present while the job was being done, had a misunderstanding of the work to be performed.

When I met with [redacted], I agreed to do additional work and remove more debris then initially agreed upon, for no additional cost to the customer.

I completed the additional work today, November **, 2013, and had [redacted] inspect the work performed at which time he stated it looked 100% better and was very pleased with the extra work performed. He also said he was going to contact the Revdex.com to retract the complaint.
