Complaint new heat pump we purchased was installed wrong had to call company back numerous times to fix this on going problem. lost my business over it. BnBwe purchased a new heat pump May18,2015 model [redacted] from David Armstrong services ,LLC , 20 Albemarle shores , Columbia, NC 27925. Phone 252-394 5315. we paid 5,200. we were told that the unit we brought would service both the upstairs and down stairs. with separate thermostats. also new duck work would be put in. after they installed the heat pump they said they couldn't install the duck work because we had a modular home and he didn't realize it at the time he looked through the home to give us an estimate . I have a Bed and Breakfast so I wanted the guest to be able to be comfortable upstairs. this never happen. the air was running upstairs and we had ours running down stairs and the down stairs was freezing and upstairs never got cool enough and I lost my business over this. guest were suppose to stay for a week but were checking out the next day. we called David he sent his repair man out. they told us to close all our vents down stairs and that would cool the upstairs we tried that but it didn't work , we called David back after a few weeks and told him it wasn't working he sent another repair man out. this man did a little something then left. no change. the air conditioner keep running and running but no air was going upstairs. the heat pump finally blew up and David had to replace it. when the new heat pump still wasn't working properly we called and he sent yet another repair man out , one who finally knew something and found that the guys that installed it had screw down the damper so the air could not blow upstairs. He had to rebuild the duck work that was poorly done and was loosing air like crazy in the exchange. We tried that for a while a month went by and guest keep leaving because the rooms were too warm we had to buy window air conditioners.. winter came and now it was too warm upstairs, I couldn't get the temperature to go down so had to completely turn it off. I lost more business and heat pump still was not working right. It kept running and running . I called David he sent someone else out. he didn't know what to do had to call someone else. then he said he was going to disconnect the thermostat up stairs and to run both upstairs and downstairs with the one thermostat. In the mean time I lost my husband with pneumonia and stress from this on going problem. my husband passed away the end of January. a few weeks later I received my electric bill it was over $446. I had it on 68 degrees and the upstairs was completely closed off. I have never in my lifetime had an electric that high . I called electric company and they said my meter was running all the time . I called David once again he sent someone who had to call some one else because he couldn't find the problem . finally he took the cover off thermostat and said he saw a loose wire that was causing the pump to run all the time but not blowing out heat. so because of that my electric bill was over $400. that I had to pay and it wasn't my fault. David said he should have installed two heat pumps. Yes, he should have been outright with us at the time of purchase to make sure what we got would service our home the way it needed to be. Now I am stuck with a $5,200 lemon that was installed wrong and has cause me and my husband nothing but grief and lost of business. I would like my money I am tried of dealing with this ongoing problem it is apparent He and his company cannot fix the problem so I need to fix it myself by going to court, if he can not resolve this issue. Desired SettlementI would like a refund of $5,200. for the purchase price of the heat pump that was not properly installed and has caused me to loose my business.
