With regards to Mrs***’s complaint that she did not know about related costs of the training, we make every student aware of the costs involved, in addition to tuition, on the day of enrollment. These costs are standard in the industry and include protective gear and rank test fees.
We explain the costs involved in person upon initial siin our school and just to be sure that a client didn’t miss it or forget it, we put it in writing in an orientation packet that is given to them that same day and then we email that same information to them. At no time in the 3+ years that her children were members did they ever mention that they were unaware of these costs or that they would not have enrolled had they known about themWith respect to the billing issue for the day camp, Mrs*** signed up for this extra program and apparently had some confusion as to the cost and how it was billedOnce we became aware of this, we immediately refunded the charge hoping to alleviate their concernsMr*** did not simply post a bad review on ***; he posted a false, defamatory and insulting review on ***He has subsequently changed the review to remove the defamatory language Had the ***’s communicated their frustrations with us at any point, we would certainly have worked out the issue with them, While we never like to see the children suffer the consequences of the actions of their parents, unfortunately the reality in our program is that in order for us to create the self-disciplined and self-confident kids that we have developed for nearly years, we must have a relationship in which we can work together with the parents of our studentsAfter Mr***’s review, Mrs*** then sent us an email in which she stated: “ I understand we signed something but this should have been stressed moreAnd you should have made sure that all the parents understood this new changeBecause had I been aware I would not have signed my children up for another year.” Mrs*** told us that she would not have renewed for the fourth year had she been aware of these costs, so we released her from her contract and further financial obligations immediately and refunded the money for the day camp that same dayIt is unfair to ask us to refund all tuition payments made for the 3+ years because we have provided services for that time, including instruction and training,. It is not true that her daughters will have to start over. They can simply continue at any other taekwondo or similar martial arts school. In fact her oldest daughter’s skill level is at or above that of her rank in any other school and so she should have no trouble reaching her black belt very quickly
