David Hobbs Honda Reviews (5)

I went to David Hobbs last week to purchase a 2016 Honda HR-V. I was given a price and told that they were not easy to get but that they had 2 they could use to trade for the vehicle I wanted. I told them I would be selling my current car outright. I listed my car and was ready to sell it. I called the salesman back Friday, Sept 18th and left a message saying I wanted to move forward with the new car. On Sat. morning he returned my call and left a message. I e-mailed him that I would have to get back to him on Monday. I called Monday evening and was told that I could not get the car until January! Thank goodness I did not accept an offer on my car! What would I have done for 3-4 months with NO car! They knew this when I went in there Sept. 10th. and did NOT provide me with that information. They just said we can get the car. The one salesman was too busy to meet with me on the 10th, even though I had made an appointment, and he had me talk to another salesman. He made it sound like there was no problem getting the car. To me this is NOT being honest. If they had been honest I might have been willing to wait and I would NOT have listed my car. Sure they said they would hold the price they quoted me until January but that I will loose money when I sell my car because it will be worth less and selling a car outright in the middle of winter is not easy. Of course they would NOT honor the price trade in price on my car in January. I feel like they don't care about their customers and can not provide them with truthful information. All they care about is the sale. Well there is NO sale because they have NO car!!

Review: Hello My name is [redacted],I recently purchased a vehicle from David Hobbs Honda in Glendale WI, I purchased it on February 21, 2014, the very next day while driving I was unable to stop the vehicle. I called the dealership to inform them of what had happened and my concern, I was forced into traffic and almost had an accident. The dealership simply asked was the breaks grinding I said no, they told me that I could bring the car to the service center, I did and was told there was nothing they could do. My concerns intensified when I saw a story on runaway toyota. I would like to return the vehicle and get my money back.I look forward to hearing from you and resolving this issue.Sincerely[redacted]Desired Settlement: I would like a full refund minus license plates and tags.

Response:

To whom it may concern,

I am not sure how to respond to this "complaint" , while we did indeed sell Ms. [redacted] a pre ownerd Toyota, but we have not had an opportunity to reinspect the vehicle. She did indeed come to the dealershio but declined us the opportunity to inspect her complaint of the brakes not working. We would be happy to go through her brakes and make sure everything is working correctly and would even be happy for her to take it to a Toyota dealership, we would pay for the inspection.

To my knowledge we have had no contact with this customer, other than her enquiring about a bake inspection and then declining it and leaving the premises. We would be happy to discuss the options available to her and even what is available in terms of a buy back.

I trust this addresses the issue and look forward to to being able to help Ms. [redacted] either become comfortable in the car she own's or help her find something that she would be comfortable in.

Sincerely

Consumer

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

July 1 of this year, I had brought my leased vehicle in to the dealership to end my lease early because I no longer needed the vehicle. [redacted] stated to me, he was the GM for the dealership now. He looked over my car inside and out and they would normally do for an appraisal. We then went into his office and he looked up the buy off amount. He stated that if I took the car into a body shop to fix a few things and paid for them, that he would then buy the car off of me and I would owe nothing.
So that day July 8, I took the car in and they began work on it. I called [redacted] and told him this and he stated that if it was indeed getting worked on and wasn't going to take long that he would proceed buying it and the body shop could just deliver it to the dealership. We set up a day for the following week, that morning I called and he said he was too busy to meet with me so we set up another day. That day came and he said the same thing so we set up another day. Unbelievably the same thing happened so yet again we set up a day and I even said "do you want me to call a day before and remind you?" he said no, he would put in his planner. That day came, I called and he said no I can't do it until the car is done and at the dealership. I was mad and said that he told me numerous times we could take care of it prior .
So he agreed and I went to meet with him last Friday, July 25th. I had forgotten the key and he wanted the exact mileage on the car , I told him I thought 12,000 miles.
I said I will call the body shop and get the exact and bring the key in two hours.
I returned to the dealership with the key and mileage. I was wrong about the mileage, there are 23,000 miles on the car. I told him I had so much going on in my head is why I told him 12,000...that I was thinking 12,000 because my allotment per yr was 12,000 and we were way under our allotted amount. I said none the less, you saw the mileage when I first brought it in to get appraised. He was abrasive and acting like I lied to him, I couldn't believe it! I said "[redacted], you saw the mileage yourself, you did the appraisal and said I just needed to fix the dents".
He said well I can't do this. I said are you kidding?! You told me you could !
I got very upset having had all my time and energy wasted and said fine I have other dealers that would do this for me! I almost started crying! I said so no deal? and he said nope and dropped my key on the desk in front of me .
I left so upset. This was our 4the vehicle purchased from this dealer and this is how I am treated. Actually no one should be lied to and had their time and energy wasted like that!
I was so lividly upset that I called trying to reach [redacted] the owner, as he states in his advertising that people can call him directly with any issues and her personally will take care of it.
I left such a long upset message on his voicemail that day asking him to call me to discuss what happened. He doesn't even call me. [redacted] calls me numerous times that evening when I couldn't take the call so I returned his call this past Saturday July 26th. It was evident that [redacted] had spoke to him, I even asked him and he said [redacted] told him to do whatever he wanted with this problem. This upset me even more that [redacted] wouldn't take the time to call me though I asked. I am back dealing with [redacted] who had been so rude and I had such problems with. [redacted] asked if I still had the car and if we could resolve this, I said yes I do but I am not paying a penny more. I had stuck to my word and had it fixed but he did not.
He said lets talk monday morning and I said fine though I really was so upset by him.
This morning now July 28th, he called and said he couldn't do it. I couldn't even believe it! Yet again he wasted more time and more energy. I was nearly in tears yet again! All these games and lies to try to get more money out of me.
Just a hour ago I emailed [redacted] expressing my upset over all of this and how this was such bad business that was totally unbelievable. That I couldn't believe they treat people like this. I truly doubt I will get a call back.
I could have had this all taken care of weeks ago. I started the process July 8th so that I could end the insurance and not have to pay Augusts lease payment. Now it has been three weeks and another payment coming up and so busy myself that I am trying to figure out how I am going to get it to another dealer on time to avoid another lease payment!
Businesses should not do this to people, I am just disgusted with my experience there. [redacted] advertisement states ..."they are a dealer for the people" ...Really, what exactly is that suppose to mean?????
I am sorry I am rambling but everything else I have going on in my life, this should not have been so difficult. He should have been honest from the beginning.
Trying to manipulate more money out of people at the last minute...very bad business.
I would hate to see them be this crooked with someone else.

I bought a used car on Aug 2014 on full down payment. I contacted DMV on 2014 Sept end since I was yet to receive the title of the vehicle and was told that the necessary paperwork’s/payments were not done by the dealership to DMV. I contacted the dealership and they said they will look into it. I went to DMV again on 2nd week of Oct to confirm if everything was in place, but to my surprise, DHH was yet to complete the paper works. I confronted DHH with this situation and was told that DHH has cleared all the paperwork’s /payments and the delay is on the DMV side as it sometime takes time to get reflected. I followed with Wisconsin DMV on last week of Oct and found the dealership did not file the paperworks till then. I contacted the dealership again, just to hear back the same story and was told by the salesperson that nothing can be done at their end. When I confirmed from DMV again on 2ndweek of Nov that the documents were not in place yet, I talked to the DHH manager. I was told by him that he would get back to me on this by 2 days as the finance department of them was closed on Saturday. 1 week passed and there was nothing. I was left with no other options but to file a complaint with Wisconsin DMV on last week of Nov (I bought the car on Aug). Only after the intervention of DMV, I was issued the title on 1st week of Jan 2015. (almost 5 months after I bought the car).
Although I received the title, I was not sure why a dealership will take so much time unless there is something else. I was daily commuting with the car of which I did not have the title. Even I am not sure if DHH dealership had the title in their possession and necessary documentation to sell me the car at that time when I bought it.
It was a huge headache to go through this purchase and running back and forth. Also when I bought the car there were a number of places all over the car where the paint chip came off. At the time of purchase, I was told it will be taken care of, but when the purchase was complete, things went south as if it was a misunderstanding on what detailing needs to be done. As a used car, the price was way too high and a lot of bargaining had to be done to be at a realistic price point. Once the car was bought, the only thing I heard from them that this was a used car and small issues are expected. After a number of visits to the dealership, they agreed to spot paint the chip marks.
It was a lot of agony to go through the purchase and I will never recommend anyone to buy from this dealership. It was not worth buying from this place.

During taking an appointment on phone I was told I have to wait max 45 minutes. On 6-Apr when I pulled in my car for oil change in the dealership service center no one opened the shutter door I was waiting in my car for 5 minutes. Then I parked my car and walked to the service desk. Both the staff members were on phone. Third staff was just sitting by the desk. No one attended me. Then one male staff finished his phone conversation and went inside the garage. After 7 mins I was asked why I was here. I told I have an appointment for an oil change. He asked me to pull in my car inside the garage. My appointment was at 2:45 pm and I arrived exactly at 2:45 pm. I was asked to wait in the waiting area. I could see all other 4 customers who came after me their cars were serviced. At 4:10 pm I walked to the service desk to ask about my car. He said they took my car for car wash. I went back to the same staff member at 4:20 pm, the staff was on the phone chatting. I saw my car keys on his desk. I waited till he completed his sweet chat on the phone. I got my car back by 4:30 pm. Honda leadership should keep an close eye on this dealership or should replace the David Hobbs manager for offering very bad service to the Honda customer. The staff did not apologize nor said anything about the delay. The staff who served me was [redacted]. The paper work that he handed me after I made the payment had an incorrect license plate number.
