After an internal review of the situation with the field Project Manager and VP of Sales, it was decided to reduce the time on the job from to hours as well as charge only half of the $travel fee. The total amount due went from $to $300.16. The Customer Service Director discussed the reduction and apologized for her dissatisfaction on Thursday December 4th. Review: David Hood and Sons began a roof and box gutter installation in January 2016 and is not completed with the job. They only send one person, sometimes two to work the job. I have called the corporate office twice and no one other than a secretary has responded to my plea's to complete the job. We have nice weather and no one shows up to work at the job. They are now interfering with other facets of the remodel costing me time and money.

We always use one or two men crews on box gutter work because sending more than that is counterproductive. The box gutter foreman is the only person in our company with soldering skills. He needed to leave the country unexpectedly for a month during the job. This delayed the project as the men who did work while the foreman was away were limited as to what they could complete. Other factors that prolonged the job was the large amount of deteriorated wood that needed to be replaced beneath the gutter liners and working throughout the winter months.

Review: David Hood Roofing is a subsidiary of Burns-Scalo, a Revdex.com member. David Hood roofing did a roof inspection and minor repairs for me. I was charged $412.66 for the job. When I called to explain the charges after I received the bill, I was told that I was charged $95 for travel, 2.25 hours of labor at $130/hr, and miscellaneous other charges for the work (repaired 12 nails and some caulking). These charges are abusive because when I first called inquiring about a roof inspection I was told the roof inspection would cost $95 plus labor. I was NOT told $95 was for travel. I was NOT told the inspection and work would be charged by the hour and I was NOT told that the hourly charge would be $130. My understanding was that $95 was for the inspection and I would be presented with an estimate for required repairs, if any. When the roofers came for the inspection, the fees and hourly charges were not described to me verbally or in writing at that time either. No contract was presented to me for signing. But I did note the time when they arrived at my house (8:15 am) and when they notified me they were leaving (10:00 am). That's a total of 1 hour and 45 minutes. Had I known I was paying by the hour, things would have been very different. For instance, I would not have left them do the inspection without supervision while I walked the dog. In summary, the fees and charges were not properly presented to me verbally or in writing at any time. I was charged for 2.25 hours when the roofers were at my home on the job for 1.75 hours. I sent a complaint letter presenting these facts to David Hood roofing on October 14 (certified). It was signed for on Oct 18. I have received no response to date (2 weeks later).Desired Settlement: I request that the amount billed to me be revised as follow: 1) remove the $95 travel charge since I was never informed about it and 2) reduce the hourly charge to $227.50 for 1 hour and 45 minutes of labor. I should not have to pay for time that was not spent working for me. 3) I request that they do not charge interest or any other penalty for late payment during the processing of this complaint. Any delay in payment is the result of the company's unresponsiveness to my concerns.
