Review: Stianche Funeral Home was contracted to bury my mother, [redacted]----, on 7 January 2013. I am the executor of the estate. Several billing and service issues arose after paying Mr. Stianche the full invoice amount of $8613.

Mr. Stianche was paid to procure 15 death certificates at an expense of $90 ($6 each) per his invoice. He provided me with only 12 certificates (Certificates [redacted] thru [redacted]). He blamed the Local Registrar, **.[redacted], for not producing the correct number of certificates although she had been paid for 15 certificates. When I contacted **. [redacted], she admitted that she had only issued 12 certificates but blamed Mr. Stianche for not counting the certificates when she presented them to him. She also stated that she could no longer issue the remaining certificates because the death had occurred in 2012 and that she had already closed out the books and forwarded her year end summaries to the state. The only way to procure the three additional certificates was directly from the PA Dept of Health, which is far more expensive. I informed Mr. Stianche that I expected him to procure the 3 certificates at his expense. He agreed to do this (via e-mail) but to date has failed to forward me the certificates and has refused to respond to my numerous e-mail requests. After a year of being non-responsive, it is obvious that Mr. Stianche has no intention of procuring the certificates. At this juncture I would settle for an $18 refund of the invoice charge for the missing certificates.

In January 2013, soon after my mother's death, Mr. Stianche interviewed me over the telephone (I live in Arizona) for the contents and composition of a death notice and obituary. He subsequently charged an $88 advance for payment to the local [redacted] for publication of the death notice and obituary. I was somewhat disappointed/annoyed after reading the very abbreviated and incomplete obituary. I called the [redacted] to find out if that is what Mr. Stianche had submitted. They verified that it was the submitted content and also informed me that Mr. Stianche was only invoiced for $48.75. I challenged Mr. Stianche on the overcharge. He attempted to dance around the issue, but in the end he agreed to refund the difference of $39.25. Despite numerous requests, he has not forwarded a refund check.rIn summary, Mr. Stianche has overcharged for an advance paid to a third party on my behalf. He has failed to respond to my e-mails and has failed to forward a refund of the overcharge, as promised. I find his behavior unethical, bordering on criminal theft. I implore your help. " The requested resolution was a refund in the amount of $39.25, payable to the "Estate of [redacted]----."
