Revdex.com: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID 11315578, we are currently attempting to work out a solution

We put a call in to *** *** to discuss the issue further before making another comment

We did install a gas line to the new location where the air
handler is relocated. We also installed
one going to the new range location.
However, our HVAC installer asked our project manager (***) if she
wanted gas or electric heat because she had wanted an electric water
heater
even though it had a gas line at that location as well, with that being the
reason he asked. *** called her in the
presence of the installer with him being witness to their conversation. She said to go with electric. Although we found it strange, as we had
already ran a gas line at our expense, we knew she only had a gallon tank
and it made some sense because a gas furnace uses a lot more gas than a cooktop
or a water heater ever would have. We simply
wanted to confirm what she wanted as she was often anxious and sometimes
confrontational throughout the project.
The electric heat cost us more because we then had to run a new breaker
and wiring to support the electric heat element. We had taken over this project behind another
contractor that did not work out and we not only completed the project a month
earlier than expected, but performed multiple upgrades in the process without
requesting signed change orders and additional payment
We currently are not replying back to her because ***
called her and tried to remind her of their conversation witnessed by the
installer and she denied the conversation and hung up on him. She also sent *** a text stating that she
was getting an attorney regarding this issue.
At that time we determined that it is better to discontinue any
communication with her. She can have her
attorney call us to discuss the matter, but we will not speak with her
directly
In addition, she had
animals to feed on the property and pretty much went by there every day. She was very present throughout the project
and checked on the progress and would complain or require revisions when not
happy about anything, but often appeared to not be sure exactly what she
wanted. She never stated any concerns
about the installation of the electric heat during that time or immediately
upon completion of the project in 2015.
We have only received comments/complaints recently in 2016. We have had many cold snaps between those
dates. One would have to realize that
their heat was electric opposed to gas way before now.
We will not fulfill her request to replace the
electric unit with a gas unit unless she wants to sign a change order and pay
for the cost of the change

Yes, I did initially consider an on demand water heater as previously statedYes, I did change my mind about this after reading the reviews on them and decided to go with a standardThis is the nature of rebuildingI am a first time homeownerI have never had to rebuild from practically the ground upI did not realize what it entail or what all was necessary so this was definitely a learning process for meThat being said, at no time did I ever ask for an electric furnace nor would I have done soEven being new to this I know that electric heat is way more expensive and inefficient plus I have a gallon gas tank already on my propertyRunning just the stove and water heater off it would be ridiculousThe project manager *** did come to me and state that an electric furnace would be better as if I went gas I would have to run a gas line almost the entire length of the atticI told him at that time that I was fine with that and would pay for any additional cost associated with doing so.As for being present during the rebuild, yes I was but not exactly for the reasons the contractor statedI was on the job often during June and July as I have those months off but the rest of the time I worked and didn't get to the house until around 5pm at which time the workers were goneI was there not only to feed animals but because this was the most unprofessional business I had ever dealt withExample, I had to kick a subcontractor and workers off my property, not once but twice (contractor told him it would be okay to finish up after I kicked him off my property the first time)This particular subcontractor was using my gas can and gas to run their air compressorShortly after I kicked them off the job said gas can full of gas was stolenI replaced it, and that one was also stolenThe contractor, his crew and subcontractors repeatedly used my property (tools, gas cans, wheelbarrow, shop broom, shovels, etc)When I spoke with the contractor about this he said he would deal with itAfter that a shovel and my shop broom came up missing and my wheelbarrow was brokenI had multiple other issues as well with things not being done at all or not being done rightExample, I had the dining room turned into a bedroom, only they built the closet facing into the hallway instead of into the bedroomMolding at the top of my cabinets over fridge is extremely crooked (drops at least two inches on one side), was told there was nothing they could do about itI also had to choose different countertops at the last minuteWhen the job was almost done I asked if it would still be ready by the projected date (November 1st) so that I could give days notice at the rentalI was assured it would beThe week after I gave my day notice I was told that the countertops I wanted would not be ready for 6-weeks so I would have to go with granite (cheaper) if I wanted it done by November 1stI asked for recessed lighting in both bathrooms, both in the showers and then one in a central location as the vanity lights did not give off enough light by themselvesIt was done in the guest bathroom and not the master bathroomI also asked for two outlets in the master bathroom and ended up with one and the list goes onSo yes, I was confrontational as things weren't done as I had asked and as they were getting paid for and I felt like ever time I turned around I was getting taken advantage of.Also, as stated previously, the furnace was placed in the atticI don't know about most people but I don't crawl around in my atticIt took me several months of having huge (more than double) electric bills before I finally put two and two togetherDecembers bill was but January, February and March bills were highI called the electric company first complaining about my bills being high and telling them that nothing had changed do why had my electric bill more than doubledI also called my gas company and had them come out and check the gauge on my propane tank as I hadn't been using the same amount of gas that I normally do during the winterIt was after the gas company came out and said the gauge was fine and tank was full that it finally clickedIt was that day that I crawled up in the attic and discovered that the furnace was electric and not gasAt that time I contacted the contractor who said he would contact *** and get back to me MondayOn Thursday *** contacted me, after I had texted the contractor againI have since had no contact with them as they will not answer the phoneI attempted to hand deliver a letter about my intent to sue but the address listed for their office is bogusI also sent two letters registered mail to the addresses listed for the business and have received not responseThe contract that I had with them nor the webpage for their business have an address listedNot even a post office boxThat to me is a red flagIn addition I find it odd that they gave me information/pamphlets on all of the things they installed that had one except for the furnace and outside unit.As the contractor has stated that he will not replace the unit I feel as if I have no recourse except to take him to court
