repairs that were not the real problem
our car was takin there for a stalling and shifting problems. My first time in they said it was somthing to do with the emissions system made a appointment the next week but the problem stopped and I cancelled my appointment. The next week the problem returned so I took car back for the same thing now they tell me it is your oil pump this repair will cost you *** we thought this business was trustworthy and let them do the the repair well the next day the car is doing the same thing now they want to rip me another *** for a dionostic check which turned up nothing! Now I am out over *** dollars for nothing. Went to a friend who is a certified ASE mechanic who put it on the same computer as davis-moore has and all that was wrong was a simple purge gas valve which only took 15min. to fix and a cost of only ***. I did some research and found that I'm not the only one this has happened to. Talked to another former employee that used to work there told me that this is a very common practice trick to get you to trade your car in. Any way I will never set foot inside this dealership AGAIN!

Desired Outcome

A apologee and a full refund.

Davis-Moore Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Fiat Response • Dec 10, 2019

We have read Mr. complaint and have taken it very seriously. At Davis-Moore we value every customer's business and traditionally have very few complaints. In this case it appears we did not live up to our reputation and take care of Mr. needs as we should have.
Background:
Mr., on ***, brought his *** in for a concern of hesitating and the vehicle's check engine light was on. It was inspected and repaired by our shop foreman who has been with Davis-Moore for 27 years. He is a Master Certified *** Technician and in my opinion is World Class. After scanning for available fault codes, the technician noted that the vehicle had a P06DA Fault Code. This code identifies an engine oil pressure control circuit problem. The Technician followed the prescribed diagnosis steps from *** which identified the need to replace the Oil Pump and the Oil Pressure Switch. It was also recommended to Mr. to replace the spark plugs as well, while everything was apart. Mr. authorized completing the repairs. The repairs were completed on ***. On ***, Mr. returned to the dealership with a complaint that the vehicle started to shift erratically and would die coming to a stop. The computer was scanned for possible fault codes, but none were found. The technician test drove the vehicle, but could not duplicate the problem. It was determined to perform a transmission re-learn, even though the problem had not presented itself. The Technician performed the re-learn procedure and test drove the vehicle for 5 miles with no problems found. Mr. was charged for a diagnostic test and repair and should not have been. Unfortunately for Davis-Moore, the service advisor that had been working with Mr. was on vacation and the other service advisor that was assigned did not research the issue and handle the situation correctly. Mr. should not have been charged for the diagnostic test after we had done a major repair 10 days prior.
I have spoken to Mr. directly and we have offered to reimburse him for the cost of the diagnostic test and the subsequent repairs that were done with another firm. Had we not charged Mr. for the diagnostic check, he would have returned to the dealership and we would have been able to diagnose the Purge Gas Valve like the other firm was able to do.
We apologize for the inconvenience we have caused Mr. and would like to earn Mr. trust back. Please let me know if anyone has any questions.

Thank You!

Just want to share my experience that I had at the Davis-Moore Mazda dealership on east Kellogg. I met with a salesman that I have been dealing with for years. I came in on Friday June 16, 2018 around 5:30 PM to test drive a red 2015 *** Civic SI. Long story short we worked out the numbers and agreed to an out the door price. I had decided I was going to put some money down to lessen the total amount I was going to finance but between Chris ***, another Sales manager and the crooked Finance guy I dealt with on June 16, 2018 at 8 pm had the deal change right before my eyes all because I didn't want to buy the warranty the finance guy had said that Chris *** really wanted me to have. I served and retired out of the Armed Forces after 21 years and never in my career or my car buying experiences had I seen the lack of integrity a Car dealership from the Manager's down to the finance guy that was displayed by the Davis-Moore Mazda Dealership this past Saturday, June 16, 2018.

(Please contact Chris *** to get the name of the other Manager and Finance Manager names)
