Davis Pontiac, GMC Truck, Inc. Reviews (4)

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID[redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
While we appreciate the reply from [redacted] we would like to point out several untruths in their letter.
I was never informed about the truck's history with having problems until my wife spoke with the salesman in May of 2014. At that time, [redacted] told her that he had informed us that the truck's previous owner had problems with the truck engine light coming on that he tried to have fixed at several different dealerships.
When my wife came with me to view the truck, we both AGAIN reiterated that we are aware of the 6.0 diesel issues and that is why we were only interested if it had the EGR delete. This was discussed at length with the salesman. At that time, assured it met the qualifications we were looking for, I decided to purchase the truck.
When my wife came in person to see the manager in February, she was seated in the show room and, after hearing our problem, was told there was pretty much nothing that could be done but that she, the manager, was sympathetic. It was laughingly mentioned by the manager, at the conclusion of the conversation, that maybe my wife should convince me to come out and trade it in on one of the [redacted] trucks. She stated they are better equipped to handle [redacted] repairs in their service department. She said maybe she give us a little better price than usual if we did. First, have always driven [redacted] vehicles and aren't interested in a [redacted] truck and secondly, this was mentioned in an off hand manner after she and the manager finished talking and was not offered as a resolution to our problem but rather another sales opportunity for them in which we would come out on the losing end financially.
When my wife contacted [redacted] in May, there was no offer of a trade in of equal value or, for that matter, any other discussion. The only thing stated was that he had contacted the owners, that we waited too long that he and the owners were in agreement that there was nothing to be done.
We have absolutely no interest in dealing with a business that continues to speak in mistruths and use word play.
There has been absolutely no genuine effort on the part of the business to work with us other than to brush us off in hopes we will go away like the truck they managed to offload on who, I'm assuming, they thought would be unsuspecting customers.
Together, my wife and I thoroughly research any purchase we consider making, costly or not. We had bypassed many 6.0 diesel trucks due to the EGR delete not being completed over the several months spend looking for the right truck after selling our 7.3 diesel. We KNEW we would only buy the 6.0 if it had the EGR delete.
The simple fact remains that the salesperson outright lied. He might say he does not recall telling us the EGR delete was done but WE clearly remember the discussion in which we assured us it had been done. We would not be in this position if he had, as we wouldn't have purchased the truck. We both were very explicit in detailing our knowledge of the 6.0 issues and the fact that we would only purchase it with the delete had been completed.
We feel our request for resolution is fair. The truck has over $7,000 worth the repairs and upgrades since purchase and has seen very little mileage due to our inability to use it, as it hasn't run most of the past 17 months!
My wife and I are amazed and, at the same time, appalled that this business would support such unethical business practices. We understand they have been in business over 55 years but, at this point, wonder if it was due not to honesty and trust worthiness, but perhaps the fact they weren't caught/ or previous salespeople were more ethical over the past 55 years. or that another customer was wronged and just didn't have the wherewithal to fight/ or this is just a first for them. Either way, we feel if we hadn't filed a complaint with the Revdex.com we wouldn't even be getting the response we received. Filing this complaint is a first for the both of us and not something we take lightly. It was only after much discussion with each other and allowing the dealership the opportunity to offer a resolution that is fair and reasonable, did not decide to take this step. This is not about trying to cause an uneven keel for the dealership but to give them a chance to do right by their customer. We are not asking to be put back in the position we were prior to this debacle as, even with the requested resolution, our family is taking a financial loss from the interest paid on the loan over the last 17 months on top of the over $7,000 cash out of our savings that was slated for other expenditures.
We take purchasing a vehicle seriously. We are not in the habit of buying new/newer vehicles every few years. My wife has had her [redacted] for over 10 years and I, my previous truck for over 6 years. The only reason we sold it was due to our move from AZ. We realized the need for a truck with four-wheel drive, which our truck at this time did not have.
Regards,
[redacted] [redacted]

Our dealership has been in business over 55 years by being honest and trust worthy. We are very sorry ** & [redacted] feel slighted.
The purchase in question happened April 19, 2013. The sales consultant recalls he told [redacted] the truck had a service engine soon light burning...

when it was traded to us. We took the truck to [redacted] for repairs which took care of the problem. The sales consultant does not recall telling them the EGR delete had been performed. [redacted] said he was aware of certain problems with the [redacted] diesel motor and would consider the truck.
He decided to purchase the truck for $13,995 with a 50/50 [redacted] only warranty for 30 days.
In February 2014 we offered [redacted] the option of swapping the 2005 [redacted] for something else of equal value. She declined. When she contacted us again in May 2014 we made the same offer after she wanted us to repurchase the truck. She declined again.
Again, we are sorry the [redacted] had problems with this truck; however, we feel as though we tried to work with them in the past to trade the truck back in for something else and they declined. It has now been 17 months since the purchase and the trucks value has declined. We will be glad to work with them to trade it in for something else at todays value.

I'm 50 years old and have bought many vehicles from dealers. I am so impressed with this dealer that this is my first review ever. The sales and finance staff was fantastic. They catered to the needs I had to fix me up with the truck that matched the job I needed it to do. They were prompt to address the issues I had with a couple things with it. This is how a dealer should do business. You are a friend at this dealership and not some shmoe off the street. I will recommend to all. A+, class act.

Review: In April 2013 my husband, started looking for a good used truck to replace his [redacted]. He found a [redacted] that he decided would meet our needs. He brought me out a few days later to see the truck and we had a conversation with the sales person specifically discussing our concerns with the 6.0 diesel motor and the EGR problems for the model year. We stressed the fact that we were only interested if the EGR delete had been accomplished on it due to the reported issues with the 6.0 EGR. The salesman assured us the EGR delete was done on the truck and that is was a good running truck. We purchased it feeling assured that this was the case. In September of 2013 the turbo died and we had to replace it at a cost of $3,208.32. It was a hit to our budget but we figured that was a chance you take with a used vehicle. Two months later, the truck had timing and glow plug sensor problems which we had repaired at a cost of $431. Three months later, EGR cooler (Hmm, was told it had EGR delete), Oil cooler and injectors had to be replaced at a cost of $3,693. We were also informed that all the bearings in the truck are shot and would need to be replaced. We decided we would take the truck in later in the month to allow us time to refund our emergency account (now truck repair account). The truck started running rough again and quit on my husband while returning his father's truck we have had to borrow in order to have a trustworthy vehicle. We had it towed to our home from Amelia and can not afford nor desire to continue pouring money into a vehicle that continues to drain our finances and cause such turmoil in our family!

We did speak in person with a lady who is manager at Davis GMC in February of 2014 explaining our frustration with the truck and the ongoing repairs. She was very kind and understanding but said there was nothing that could be done. She did offer however that we could consider, perhaps, trading it in on one of their [redacted] trucks. After the repair in the beginning of May, in which we discovered the EGR delete had not been done, I called and asked to speak to the salesperson who sold us the truck. He was dismissive and stated that there was nothing he could do as we didn't contact them after the turbo died which happened 5 months after purchase. He did agree to call the owners and speak with them. When he called back, he stated the owners agreed that there was nothing that could be done. What makes us even more upset, is that he then stated that he never said the EGR delete had been done, that they had lowered the price considerably for us and that he had told us the previous owner informed the dealership when he traded it in that he had experienced problems with the truck, so what did we expect. This is a bold faced lie! We were very clear we would only consider purchasing the truck if the EGR delete had been done. We would NEVER consider buying a truck that has a history of problems. Further, we did not contact them in the fall of 2013 after the turbo died because we certainly don't expect anyone to be able to foresee the future. However, the salesman was very dishonest which is a first for us when dealing with purchasing a vehicle.

My husband and I are both retired military and are astonished that anyone would be treated in this manner much less veterans with a combined 43 years of active service. We have had to use my father-in-law's truck a good part of the past 18 months due to the lemon we purchased. We had hoped to find a resolution with the dealership but have, instead, been lied to and summarily dismissed. We are now stuck making payments on a $14,470.60 truck that won't run, a loss of $7332.32 cash from our savings.

If we had wanted to spend $22,000 on a truck, we would have in the first place.Desired Settlement: We would for them to purchase the truck back from us for the original purchase amount and for them to retrieve the vehicle from our property. They will be getting a deal as it has new tires, new turbo, new injectors, new EGR and oil cooler. We hope that they will start conducting themselves with honesty and integrity and ensure future customers are aware of the ongoing problems with this truck and any other vehicle before selling it as we wish had been afforded to us.
