Davis Water Conditioning

Review: I bought an apparatus from Davis Water Conditioning in Paso Robles. D[redacted] who had sold it to me was friendly and made it seem like I could bring it back if needed, never said anything about a return policy or re shelf fee during our short interaction nor was it on the receipt or posted. Turns out I didn't need the device so I called and talked with the receptionist about a refund, she said she needed to call the owner whom she said was out of town and would get back to me the following week. I was only in town for the day so I asked if she could make the call now. She called back 30mins later and said that they would inspect the device and if it was in working order it could be refunded at 30% re shelf fee which was ridiculous because they sold the device to me at $550 so at 30% they would be charging me $165 for less then 15minutes of the their time. Irritated, I asked to talk with the owner and she said that wasn't possible. I called back 5mins later to discuss it and the owner (whom the receptionist said was out of town) picked up the phone. I tried to explain to him the situation but all he did was argue with me. I simply suggested for him to discuss it with D[redacted] figuring he would vouch for me, he got defensive, saying it was none of D[redacted]s business. I reasoned with the guy, saying I'd pay for D[redacted]s commission if he refunded me my money. I agreed to drop it off with him since I was 5mins away so he could inspect it which he claimed would take till the following week, it was still in the box. Upon dropping it off I asked the receptionist if I could talk with the owner and she told me he was on an important call. I said I'd wait and she said it wasn't a possibility. The following week she said she'd mail the check. They took 30% re shelf plus they TRIED to take another $50 to cover D[redacted]s commission, when I asked if they discussed it with D[redacted] she relied "D[redacted] no longer works for us." Later I researched prices on that same device, priced frequently under $300 and at a low of $220.Desired Settlement: At this point its more of a principle matter. Yeah I got cheated but the way he treated a customer with lying and passive actions is incredible. Its just a shady and unhealthy way to do business, the guy wouldn't even talk to me face to face nor on the phone. Sure I'd like to get my money back $165, but more importantly I just want someone to know and maybe get an apology. I have never had such a bad return experience, next time I'll go to best buy.

First of all I do apologies for not making you aware of the return policy. We have been in business 21 years and have not had a customer walk in purchase a reverse osmosis and then return it saying they didn't need it. It seems you shopped price after your purchase. We provided personal installation instruction which are not offered at the big box stores you refer to. Lastly these units are hermedically sealed and would require us taking the time to make an inspection to determine it was not comprised in order to offer it as such. This was not our highest priority the day you called and expected immediate attention on your return. However regardless of the situation and out come I will allow you to come in and get a full refund less the 50.00 commission. It's my goal to have every person feel good about doing business at Davis water. Let me know when you would like to stop by

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID 9615375, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

They can mail me the remainder of what they owe, just like they mailed me the check before.
