Hello my name is Doro G***, I am a plumbing and HVAC contractor in Lordsburg NMI’ve been in business in our area for just over twenty yearsI am a licensed plumber and HVAC Tech (EPA certified)I was called on a service call in Animas, NM in our county just over miles round trip I
responded quickly because I was going to be in that areaThat day I spoke with *** who called me saying that her parents A/C unit was not cooling anymore, I asked her if her parents had ever had their A/C unit serviced before because it sounded like a common problemI saw lack of maintenance causing overheating and unit freezing up issues causing indoor unit to blow just air (not cold)This problem requires chemical clearing of coils in indoor and outdoor units; this is not a one man jobBecause it requires dismantling on equipment to access coilsOnce on the job site I spoke with Mr*** ***, I asked him how long he has had his A/C unit he told us his unit had been installed more than years ago and that he had never had any problems, I then proceeded to tell him that his outdoor unit was extremely dirty from looking at dirt build up he had in his outdoor unitThe area that Mr*** lives in is a rural area with high dust in which makes sense from looking at his outdoor unit dirt buildupI told Mr*** what our plan was and was given the ok to service unitsI also told him that I would test electrical components for proper specs to make sure that everything was working correctlyMy crew went to work chemically cleaning and I arrived after for testing. Electrical components and electrical conductor was overdue for replacement from overheated contractors on device, the dual cap was out of specs causing outdoor fan not to turn on causing over heating issuesAll components were replaced on siteUnits were chemically cleaned and debris removal had been completed about hours later in which is a five hour job, please noteI was in the area to troubleshoot and repair another customers unit so my crews men were completing chemical clean service while I was at Mr*** for hrs with crew often installing parts, testing startup of unit, A/C System was up and cooling fine cold air was blowing through ductsI billed Mr*** for work and told him everything that we did was quoted my HVAC rate is per hour which also includes travel time, this rate is based on up to two techsI told Mr*** that his total invoice cost of $was based on only two men rate not three men rate of time and half rate of $127.50. I was giving him a break on cost he didn’t seem to acknowledge the discount I diagnosed A/C unit electrical system and components for hours including stamaking total invoice hours hours. It was after 7:p.min evening. I was giving him a break on cost he didn’t seem to acknowledge the discount I diagnosed A/C unit electrical system and components for hours including stamaking total invoice hours hours. It was after 7:p.min evening. I received a call from Mr***’s son *** a couple of days later saying that his father had complained to him that unit did not seem to cool enough and it was shutting its self-off. This was on weekend and I heard message on Sunday the 28th I which I drove out to Mr*** to check out system after installing gauges they revealed outdoor AC compressor not pumping enough refrigerant, leak in system or compressor was going out. I added Ibs of refrigerant R-in system and set pressures to temp right (superheat.) My time on Mr*** was hours including travel which equals x =plus refrigerant per lbs =with the total cost of $262.50. I told Mr*** that it would be no charge, just to give him a peace of mind that I was doing everything possible to make my service goodThis extra work done was billable, because it was extra work done on A/C system. Unit was holding pressure and temps seemed to be holding good so I left with mobile home temps dropping correctly. A few days later, I received a call from another son *** *** that unit had gone down completelyI drove out again to assess the problem, tested components on indoor unit, transformer (oem) part from manufacturer and would have to be ordered in which I told Mr*** I would do when transformer part was received a few days later, but I was working on an job miles away, there was no water to homes and could not break away. I called Mr*** that I could get there as soon as possible. Then I started receiving calls from another family member, *** ***, Mr*** wanted to know when I was coming out for repair. I made arrangements with existing work and drove out to install parts after installing repair parts I discovered wiring terminal had came loosed during operation and caused a direct short to system, nothing to do with what I had done. I corrected problem by rearranging terminal wiring this corrected indoor unit problem but unit would not start-up. In my years of performing this type of work I have seen a lot of issues on systems, before I consider using electrician, I perform all necessary testing and trouble shooting In rural areas especially on mobile homes (vermin) pack rats or mice sometimes get in mobile homes belly to chew wiring causing electrical problems which cause possible fires so I wanted to make sure that with electrician we would correct problems also keeping in mind that failing compressor could be root of all problems causing high amp issues burning up parts and componentsAfter manually testing system transform burned up again, but I ordered two in case of problems*** *** shows up and asked if I fixed it and I told her I was still having a problemI did not want to risk losing a second transformer and would return with an electrician. I told her and Mr*** my plans but Mr*** refused any more service from me. I told him that anything I had done I would make it good and not to worry, that there would be no extra costI even told him and *** that the electrician coming out would be my cost and not his. I did say electrical problems outside the scope of the work that I performed would be his costMr*** did not see to understand that work done was the start of overdue maintenance he failed to have done on his unitNow he was trying to get his money back on a maintenance that was absolutely necessary on an AC system. I told him I would not refund his money because the work that was completed a maintenance service, his unit needed in order to continue working after electrical issue was correctedHis system was plugged and overheating componentsI was not asked to leave as daughter *** stated in her statement. There was just no reasoning with Mr*** and *** was present so I left. A day later I called his son *** to speak with him to correct problem but my called went to voice mail. I left a message that if it would make his father more comfortable that I would not come out to his place but would send my Electrician to address electrical problems. I never received a return call or heard from anybody on what they planned to do so I assumed another decision was taken by the ***. Please keep in mind Mr*** is at least years old and out of warranty. Manufacture warranty is only good for years. Mr*** did not let me finish work. A customer refusing service does not warrant money back guaranteeI received a letter from Revdex.com for Mr*** from daughter ***. She wished to be contacted and I called to alleviate problem. I went on to explain what she had not been toldShe told me that she had not been informed what I had done to make good my services, like going on weekend to add refrigerant, offering free of charge electrician or message left to brotherShe said she would follow up and what really happened. Our conversation was civil and she did not seem upset. She told me that she would get back with me but since then AC had been repaired by others. I never heard from her again. In summary my response to the complaint filed with Revdex.com against my company is unjustified. I was not given the opportunity to correct or stand behind on anything that I done for Mr*** AC systemMr*** system had multiple problems because of overheating and dirty system which I was addressingMr*** refusing to work with me caused his own frustration. I did my best to work with the *** but they were unwilling. Regards,Doro G***, Owner/OperatorD.awg G.one Plumbing/Heating Inc.
