I said absolutely not, I wanted my bookcase and my deposit back that morning.I said that I would pay for any work that had already been done on the bookcase but I wanted it back immediately. That was the last time I heard from the companyI have filed a case in small claims court against the company, and I have a court date setMy experience with this company has been horrible. As of the date of this writing,(January **, 2015) I still do not have my bookcase or my deposit back. I would never recommend this company to anyone

Review: I Hired "Day One Restorations" to refinish and repair a bookcase. I gave the [redacted], [redacted], a deposit check for $375. He promised the work would be completed in 4-6 weeks.

Every time I call him (I have called him multiple times) he tells me he needs another 2 weeks. It has now been 3 months. I finally asked him to return my bookcase and my deposit and he refuses.Desired Settlement: I want my bookcase back. I want my deposit back, in cash.

Review: In December 2011, I found the company, Day One Restoration, via Service Magic (now Home Advisors)through the internet. I contacted the owner, [redacted], to have an antique bedroom set fully restored. The job was completed and delivered on June **, 2012. I was very pleased with their outstanding work. So, the same day of delivery, I decided to have two other antiques restored: a table that folds out, as well as cupboard, but only the outside of the cupboard. This was on June **, 2012. The receipt indicated "No rush". However, in October of 2012, I emailed to find out when the pieces would be ready. [redacted] emailed stating he was in the process of finding a new location, and could I give him a few more weeks. I responded, "Yes". I contacted him in November 2012. He stated due to the weather (Sandy) he was backed up in his orders. He said the pieces would be ready the first week in December 2012.In January 2013, I sent another email inquiring about delivery. He never responded, so I telephoned. When he called he apologized and said he was working on a restaurant job and would have my pieces ready in a few weeks. It is now July [redacted], I sent the owner an email on July[redacted] and [redacted]. I finally got a response after stating I was going to report him to Revdex.com and write an unfavorable review on Home Advisor. I also asked him to return my furniture WHETHER IT WAS COMPLETED OR NOT. He responded by saying I was threatening his business, but asking me if I would give him another month to do the job because he had been having a seven months legal issue with his business between the fire and building departments and city and state law codes. I apologized for his troubles, but told him I was not going to give him an extension. I wanted to pick up my furniture. He responded with some very unprofessional comments, and told me I would have to wait and to stop stressing him and myself out. (I have the emails and contract, but I need to convert to PDF file. I can submit upon request.)Desired Settlement: I would just like my $700 deposit returned, as well as my furniture before I take the matter to Small Claims Court.

Response:

I have read your email. To respond, all I can say is that she is correct and I will apologize once again. As she stated she said"no rush" and I had been under that impression. But like I had said to her to give me another month and she can have her furniture, but after all this time she wants to make an issue. It's a shame that I give this person such fine work for a price that she may afford to this kind of work, and this is how my company gets treated. I will finish her furniture and she can pay my balance and that is fair for both us.Day One Restorations
