We checked in to stay at the Days Inn hotel and were welcomed by a fume of smoke in the entire building, could not escape it even though it was a non smoking room and had signs about no smoking anywhere near the lobby. We went to our room to discover the door opened and unlocked (Staff could not tell us why) with a dirty towel on the floor next to the door. Next, we discovered that the room had no fire detector and had the fire extinguisher missing in the hallway. The employees at the front desk did not seem to be in the slightest bit concerned about the situation and said there was nothing they could do. Next, the room looked like someone had been murdered in it. The couch was torn apart and had bleach stains on it while the bath tub had hard chemical residue on it. To top that, the carpet was moist and sticky with cigarette burns in the carpet and the room was "half" cleaned which was concerning that it is during a pandemic. Half cleaned as in we could see the smudges of cleaning on the table that was only covering half of it. To top it off we tried to contact the manager multiple times (still have not been able to contact her) and the employee keep pushing us off about the manager in a rude manner. We asked the employee who would be in charge if the building caught on fire and they said no one and said that the managers phone was turned off and they were instructed not to call her for any reason at all. This was very concerning for not only our health but the health of other customers. We ended up staying in the hotel for an hour before we checked out and reserved a room in another hotel for the night.
On Jan 12 I attempted to book a room at Days Inn thru SnapTravle at
*** however at check in the clerk wanted and ID from my other party which she didn't have so we could not check in. I therefore told the clerk to issue us a refund, which she said she would do, but the charge in the amount of $128.90 appears on my statement. Please issue me a refund since we didn't stay and their website stated only an ID for the credit card used, is required, not that all the guests must provide an ID.
booked this reservation through an OTA (other travel agency). This was a prepaid reservation meaning a third party contract was signed and payment was collected by the OTA (in this case CIT Europa). On these reservation the OTA collects the payment from the guest and we collect from the OTA via a virtual E-Card. This means we never charged the guests card and therefore are unable to refund the guest.
Unfortunately we could not check the guest in as for security we need to see the ID of all those who will be in the room. We did cancel the reservation, and did not charge the OTAs virtual E-Card so the guest can attempt to get a refund from the OTA.
Unfortunately, in order for the guest to obtain a refund, they will need to reach out to the OTA, (CIT EUROPA) and request one. As we did not collect from the OTA. They may offer to refund the guest but because it is a third party, we cannot guarantee that CIT Europa will refund the guest.
