I reserved a room online for my husband at the Days Inn in Raleigh, NC on 03/11/2014 through a 3rd party company after making my reservation and obtaining my conformation number I called over to the hotel to inform them that the room would be paid for in cash, I ask the young lady "If the room should be paid for upon arrival or at the end of the 3 day stay. She inform that the room was to be paid for upon arrival during the call I ask if everything was ok and if anything was needed of me before my husband's arrival. She told me "No, everything is Okay" I hung up. 5 hours later my husband arrives at the hotel only to be told that there is a deposit on the room for 50.00 for which he did not have the funds for. He called me so that the deposit could be secured on a credit card the General Manager was very rude his tone was unpleasant and some of the statement that where made was most unpleasant to hear. I ask to speak to another manger or give the number to the corporate office and in that moment he stated that he was going to refused my husband a room. I ask him to explain to me why he had refused services and he stated that it was because I threaten to call the corporate office. Someone did call me back the next day and offer an apology which I excepted. When asked what he was prepared to do to rectify the issue he stated that there was nothing he could do to rectify the issue even though my husband end up sleeping inside the hospital ER for the night b/c he had no funds or transportation to go any place else.Desired SettlementMy desired settlement would be for them to issue a letter of apology to husband Mr. [redacted] on company letter. And make sure that in the future that this company train there staff to inform guest that there is deposit on the rooms if you are paying in cash.Business Response I do apologize for inconvenience. As per hotel policy if guest does not have credit card and wants to pay cash then we need to have $50.00 security deposit for a cash paying guest.It is advertized on our web sight also. We will make sure that we tell this policy to all cash paying guest at the time they make reservation. Final Consumer Response No this is not the response that I would like. The cash deposit was not the issue or the reason my husband was denied a room. I was prepared to pay the 50.00 via credit card but was denied the chance to do so. It never was about the $50.00. I want to be very clear about that. It was about the lack of customer service, the proper information from the employer, and the lack of compassion from the company. My desired resolution remains the same. A letter of apology to my husband (Mr. [redacted] for such poor customer service.Final Business Response I talked to Miss [redacted] on phone also. She told me that he did not have $50 cash with him to deposit. I did apologize for inconvenience. Consumer Response The manger did speak with me on the phone so that I could place 50.00 on a credit card for my husband since he did not have the deposit plus the cost of the room but, he was so rude concerning the 50.00 that we never got that far. The whole purpose of us talking on the phone from the hotel is so that I could use my credit card as a deposit. He did apologize to me but, my issue has not being resolved as I would like an letter of apology to my husband who had to sleep in the [redacted] center emergency room until after midnight while other arrangements where being made, had to walk to several miles from his treatment to another hotel as we had not plan on him traveling far from the [redacted] center since he got flown in and had no other transportation.
