Review: I initially signed up for the [redacted] Run set for May 3, 2014. The day before the event, I received an email that stated: -That the Inaugural [redacted] Run has been postponed unto September 6, 2014.-When they went to pick up the race permit, National Park Services informed us that the permit was denied because there was another race scheduled the same day as ours. This is the second time lack of communication with Park Services has caused the club to lose funds.-The earliest they can reschedule the race is for September 6, 2014. -Your registration will be rolled over to September 6, 2014 and we will send updates as the race date get closer.I have not received any further communication with them despite several attempts. My fiance and I both paid our registration (with processing fees) totaling $43.95 EACH. After connecting with others that registered, I realized several people have reached out to them without any response, and that this isn't the first time they have taken money and not actually held an event.Desired Settlement: DC Running Club hides behind its no refund policy. This event is clearly not going to be held, as no further communication has been posted concerning this event, and registrants are unable to reach anyone with the club. I understand the reasoning behind a no refund policy for a pre-planned event, but I, and my fiance, have paid for a product/experience that we have no way of actually receiving.

Review: On March 5th, 2014 I paid a $43.95 registration fee for the [redacted] Race hosted by DC Running Club. On May 2nd, the day before the race, DC Running Club sent an email stating the race has been postponed until September 6, 2014 due to them not being able to secure the race permit for the race.The race should not have been advertised until the race permit was secured. Customers should not have been able to pay for a race that had not secured a venue. The email stated, "This morning (May 2) we went to pick up our race permit, National Park Services informed us that the permit was denied because there was another race scheduled the same day as ours. A notice was mailed out on 1/9/14. If you cannot make the September 6th race, we will work with you one on one to transfer your race registration to another race."I immediately, the same day, sent out an email stating that I will be moving out of DC at the end of the month and will not be able to make up the race in September. I requested a refund and offered to provide my lease in my new city ([redacted]) to show I will be moving as of May 31.No one responded via email. I placed calls for the entire month of June and several times in August. No one responded via phone or email regarding my refund. DC Running Club should not have advertised for a race they did not secure a venue for let alone rip me off. I want a refund of $43.95 for false advertisement. Their lack of professionalism does not hold me liable to run a race on September 6th when I paid for a May 3rd race.Desired Settlement: Refund $43.95 paid for the race as advertised.
