If you are looking for a facility that truly cares about the needs of your childI would recommend this child care center HIGHLY!!!! Everyone from the Director to all her ladies really care about the children in their facilityThey are excellent people, with big heartsThey really love on your child as though they were their very ownIn addition, I love that they call my little one friend! What I really enjoyed is that they take the time whenever I called to check in on my baby to inform me about her progressThey helped me pin point areas in my child's development that I needed to pay closer attention tooThen they provided me with on-going support to assist me in my little ones progressionWhich as a parent is important so that you don't have a disconnect with what's going on with your child while you are awayThe director of this facility is very particular about the cleanliness of the environment(Which is fantastic - because no one really wants to think about their child rolling around in filth!) They have a great program that keeps your child engagedIf you have a child with a short attention span, like I do that easily gets boredNo problem! Once the director realizes it through communicating with her staffShe quickly switches gears and instructs her staff of additional ways to engage your little to keep the pattern of learning goingThey provide all meals -breakfast, lunch and dinner, plus snacksI enjoyed the joyful greetings morning and eveningI had a positive experience here and I am confident that you and your child will tooHere is a huge hug and a thank you to the Director Mrs [redacted] and to all her girls for taking such fantastic care of my little one and making her feel lovedMe and My baby love you all!----------

I cannot state enough how disappointing and frustrating my visit to DC Small Kids wasThe level of unprofessionalism displayed by the director, ***, was insultingMs*** made no attempt to return phone calla beyond our first few initial phone interactions and chose instead to correspond only by textShe was never available to meet with us, offering very limited hours that were nearly impossible to meet with two full time schedules
When we arrived at the facility, located on a busy street, we were admonished for not ringing the doorbell before enteringThere was no sign saying we should ring the bell and the door was unlockedWe were also admonished for not taking our shoes off at the doorWe were led on a very brief tour by the assistant director and we're told we needed to speak to the director, Ms***Ms*** informed us prior to our visit that she would be out running personal errands that dayThe assistant director found Ms***, who spoke to us with her coat on in the hallway of the facility and let us know several times that we were interfering with her dayShe gave us a glance only at the "new parent booklet" but declined to even let us hold or look at itWe asked if we could have a copy to keep with pricing and facility details and she said noPer their policy, they provide prospective parents with no paperwork or informative materials until a deposit is paid
No concessions are made to accommodate visiting parent schedules and zero information is given to prospective parents regarding facility detailsShe even declined to provide me with a sample menu
I do not know if DC Small Kids and Ms*** broke any rules here, but their operations are inconsiderate and shady

I am addressing the complaint with D.C Small Kids Adventures Learning Center
By submitting our response, we are representing that it
is a truthful account of my experience with this customerBefore we enrolled this parent she explained that our facility was highly recommended by another parent that is currently enrolled at our Center. I work diligently with my staff in making sure that our kids are safe and free from any harm at all times with that being said I installed security cameras on the premisesI am able to monitor what is going on in our facility at anytimeI viewed our film and discovered that one of my staff did not answer the door in a promptly manner to that I apologizeMy staff called me to let me know of a gentlemen that was not permitted once on our premises returned and was at our door acting inappropriately and for those reasons he was asked not to returnI received a call from the parent minutes later /call from my staff that this same gentlemen was insisting on entering the premises after hearing my staff placed a call to The Director both parents became furiousI contacted the parent minutes after missing her call she answered later by screaming "I AM HERE, I AM HERE never mind and hung up in my ear"? I tried to call this parent again and know answer I than called the staff on duty and she replied the gentlemen was screaming and pounding at our door using belligerent behavior which we never experiencedThis kind of behavior is unacceptable in any facility, work place, school or court room this behavior is placing kids in harms way and will not be excepted anywhereEach of our parent's at the pre-enrollment is aware of both contact numbersI try to return all calls in a timely matterHowever weeks before I have spoken to the parent about the behavior we have come across and asked if she kindly could be the primary pick up for the children due to the previous experience, she agreed. My job is to continue providing quality excellent care for all my children, secure, and keep them myself and my staff safe as possible at all timesI have never acted out maliciously we do have policies within our parent handbooks which they signed on the first day of enrollment we try to accommodate as much as possibleI feel like I have taken all the necessary steps to resolve this issue!

My granddaughter was here and I will say I appreciated the time and extra care my granddaughter recieved. Her mother passed away and I am going through a custody battle with her Aunt who put her there during her visits. Ms.D** Ms.W[redacted] Ms.D[redacted] and Ms.T[redacted] were welcoming to me eventhough it was an complex situation they handled it with compassion and grace wonderful people there.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  
 
I appreciate that she acknowledges and apologizes that her staff member did not answer the door in a prompt manner, however I consider 20 minutes more than excessive. She also doesn't address the issue of them being covered in urine and feces. Also, yes we had a verbal agreement that for as long as the children attended, I would be the one to come in, but when our child's safety was of utmost concern with no one answering, yes the children's father did follow me inside to withdraw them from the center, gather our children's belongings, and check on their well-being. After which he returned to the vehicle. Also [redacted] did call me after [redacted] was opening the door and I told her "she's opening the door now, sorry to bother you, I'll call you and explain tomorrow" after which point she called the center, the staff member did not call her to complain as she states. Since [redacted] refuses to accept that her staff is at fault, has made no effort to contact me regarding the matter, I will consider this issue unresolved. 
 
She continues to try to shift the blame to the children's father coming in (which he only did to check on our children as any parent would if they were unable to reach their child's care provider while standing at the door for over 20 minutes knocking, ringing the doorbell, and calling). Yes he came in to check on our kids and withdraw them effective immediately, that does not mean that it is suddenly ok that your staff members grossly neglected my children while they were in your care. If your staff had done their job and cared for my children then there would never have been any issue. Also, I never once stated that someone recommended me to your facilty, in fact I told you this was the first time we had ever considered day care and I was concerned with my 2 year old not knowing anyone. I told you I received your information through the state and that you were one of only a few 24 hour centers--though as it turned out, you really were not staffed to be a 24 hour center. So perhaps you should take that off your sign, someone might consider that false advertisement.
