DCR Painting Service Reviews (9)

Recently, DCR Painting gave me a bid to paint the exterior of my house. [redacted] is a smooth talker, but, he delivers! After much discussion, I agreed to let him & his company paint my house - the next day! I did check him out on the Revdex.com and the AZ ROC, found 1 complaint that was resolved. Found other good reviews. [redacted] and I talked about the complaint, talked about my job, and I went with his company. The next day when I got home from work, he met me at the house. We both checked it over and there were just a few little touchups that I requested and he did. I think he and [redacted], his assistant, did a really good job. My house looks so clean fresh, and bright. Yesterday I went all around the house and did 2 little touchups. I am very satisfied with the job, the cleanup, and the guys. They were here about 7am on the day of the job to get started before I left for work. [redacted] called me during the day to give a progress report. His price was very reasonable. As I said [redacted] is a smooth talker, but please know that he DID NOT talk me into the job. I already had gotten 3 other bids and just that morning I had decided to get it done and stop wasting time. I am glad I happen to get that one last bid from [redacted] and as I said, I'm very pleased with the paint job. Thank you [redacted] and [redacted].

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.[redacted] has not offered anything different. Still blames everything and everyone else but his company's own negligence. He shares a video of an old peeling wood window frame and makes it sound as if our home is dilapidated. We are talking about a 12 year old semi-custom $500,000+ home built by a very reputable builder (Maracay) with metal window frames. For reference, our window screens are being replaced, BUT not the FRAMES.  The frames are just fine and the screen is what is being replaced because they are dusty and we wanted a fresher look since the house was being painted.  We can assure you, that if we would have even thought that the window frames needed repair or painting, it would have been brought to [redacted]'s attention, to get a quote from him. AND if [redacted] would have thought our windows frames were fragile and needed repair I would imagine he would had brought it to our attention.  Our window frames were just fine, and it wasn't until after the crew supposedly yanked off the painting materials that the damage was there. This would have happened whether the windows were a year old or 12 years old. We understand that [redacted] is human and even though he may have a decent track record, mistakes happen. It does not mean that his crew will follow every procedure perfectly and never damage anything. Again, the issue of this complaint, is that [redacted]'s company damaged the paint on our window frames, and we have had a difficult time getting him to accept the responsibility and restore them in a professional manner. Originally, he wanted us to get the paint and would only do a quickie touch up. It wasn't until our phone conversation later when we complained about this, that he mocked us and told us he could get the paint then, as if we could not afford a gallon of paint. Our position is, his company caused some damage, so should have promptly apologized and fixed it properly! We are very disappointed in that we even have to discuss this issue. We are only asking that our property be restored back to original, and requesting a partial refund of what we paid, so that we can hire someone to fix this. We tried working with [redacted], but no longer desire to, due to demeaning and rude character.Regards,[redacted]

In painting a home, there are certain steps every painter must take.  One of them is taping the windows prior to spraying.  The peeling coated aluminum on the window frames is not due my workmanship.  I used the correct tape and kept it on the frames less than 24 hours.  I have...

included several articles below which detail the causes of window frames peeling and how actually the tape residue will stick to the frames instead of coating peeling off.  There was underlying damage to her window frames before I even began work.  The house was severely sun damaged and she was in the process of replacing the screens because they were old and damaged as well.  The fact that the window frames were too old and damaged by moisture and/or sun and could not hold up through the exterior painting process is not due to my workmanship.  Out of over one thousand houses we have painted, this has never happened before.   I recommend she contacts the original builder or window manufacturer to find out about the warranty on her frames.  Most warranties are fifteen to twenty years on that type of product. With that being said, I truly wanted to help her.  I said I would touch-up the areas that were peeling.  Per our phone conversation on March 24th, I said I would purchase the paint and touch-up the peeled areas.  I warned the paint may not be an exact match, but the paint store does use a computer system to match so it would be hard from the naked eye to tell if it wasn’t an exact match.  The touch-up would not have looked like “mismatched blobs of paint”.  I am not sure where she is getting that idea.As far as me not caring, that is simply not true.  This is my livelihood and I take great pride in all my projects.  I have painted over 1,000 houses here in the valley and have a 99.8% satisfactory rating.  That being said, I am human.  I do make mistakes and I take full accountability for every mistake I have made.  That is why my satisfactory rating is so high and I am A+ rated.  I have great knowledge in the construction industry and I just don’t think it is fair to have to fix something that is not my fault.  I apologized for the inconvenience and to be helpful, I offered to touch-up problem areas.  That is a very reasonable solution. Thank you,[redacted]

This situation was not due to workmanship.  I have done much research. Window frame coating will not peel off in less 24 hours with 3M masking tape unless there is an underlying defect.  We have done over 1,000 homes, some of which are much older than [redacted]'s and this has never occurred.   I was attaching the video to illustrate that in an old or new home the coating will not peel from the frames.  In contrary, the adhesive will stick to them if left on for longer periods of time (days and weeks).  This adhesion can be cleaned off.  In the video, they were using a higher adhesive tape for a longer period of time and the coating did not peel from the frames.  Some adhesive was left behind but was cleaned off without any damage to window frames.  We did not touch [redacted]'s window frames with anything but 3M masking tape.  [redacted] must have a manufacturer's defect with her window frames.

In trying to keep up customer satisfaction, I offered to touch-up the peeling areas.  I never used the words "quickie touch-up".  [redacted] was not satisfied with this resolution.

In a goodwill gesture from DCR, we will refund the customer $300 for this issue.

I just had my 3200 sq ft home painted by DCR Painting this week. Despite the 111 degree temp, they did an OUTSTANDING job. The first entire day was spent filling in cracks, caulking, and repairing the stucco. I couldn't be more pleased with the finished job. They are very pleasant to work with, professional, and very attentive to detail. They also were very agreeable when asked to do some "extras". Their price was more than fair considering all of the work they did. I am thrilled to have a "new home", and would highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for a quality paint job.

I have had DCR Painting Service do more than one job for me over a period 6 years.

The work is quality and the price is more than fair.

I will use DCR again and I will recommend them to other people.

Review: We hired [redacted], owner of DCR Painting Service, to paint the exterior of our home on March 17, 2014. After the painting was completed, we noticed that some of our metal window frames had the original paint ripped off in areas, some worse than others. This exposed the silver metal underneath. We asked [redacted] about this and he told us it was not his responsibility to fix. He knew this had happened and told us that once we put up our sunscreens, that it would hide it all. We assume the damage may have happened due to harsh removal of plastic and tape placed on windows used to cover for painting. We noticed that some of our windows still have tape and gunk residue left behind. We emailed [redacted] the next day to ask him to please set up a time to come out and take care of the damage. He accepts no responsibility for this and blames everything and everyone else. However, to appease us, he told us to get some paint and would send someone over to do a quickie brush touchup of the bare areas but nothing else. He mentioned that it wouldn't match, but at least look better than the bare metal. We emailed him again and stated that this is his responsibility to repair, so him being a professional painter, should figure out what proper paint should be used and should paint it professionally. So if a window frame needs repair, then paint the entire frame instead of leaving mismatched blobs of paint. He refuses to do this, and will only paint the very minimal to cover the damage. He called us up to discuss this. Wasted about 45 minutes on the phone with this guy with nothing but arguing. Simply put, he just does not care. We think even worse in our opinion, is his arrogance, belittling, and extreme rudeness during our phone conversation. Will will definitely not use this company again nor recommend it.Desired Settlement: We would like to get this issue fixed, but no longer wish to do business with DCR Painting due to rudeness and demeaning attitude. We would like to get several quotes from other companies on what it would cost to properly repaint the damaged window frames, and are requesting a partial refund of what we have paid DCR painting, to cover the cost. We have not gotten any quotes as of yet, so have no idea what the cost would be. We have already paid DCR in full.

A high quality result on time and within budget; the two man crew painted our home in Queen Creek in two days with minimal disruption to our normal business schedule.
