Dean's Auto Repair Reviews (3)

We have spoken directly with the client and all issues have been resolved to everyone's satisfaction.

Review: On Friday 10/04 I took my vehicle into the aforementioned mechanics shop to have a 60K maintenance done. Shortly after receiving my car back I noticed the engine would shake when idle, the car had trouble accelerating when attempting to reach higher speeds, and there is a clicking sound when I put my car in park all of these issues were not present before taking my car to have the maintenance done. Upon noticing these issues I scheduled to take my car back to the mechanic for them to correct a mistake on the paperwork as they noted my car being at 56K miles when in actuality it was at 64K as well as have them double check their work. Within a matter of an hour after dropping my car off I received a call from [redacted] (shop manager) saying his technician and himself drove the car and that there was nothing else they could do.Desired Settlement: Make the situation right by finishing the job I paid before or refund my money.

Response:

First of all, thank you for the opportunity to "Make this Right". While I am not sure what happened to the repair on [redacted]'s car I will do anything in my power to make it right for him. We have tried to contact [redacted] several times this week, leaving voice mails each time. We have yet to receive a response from [redacted]. We are very concerned about the situation with [redacted] and his car. We would very much like [redacted] to contact us to schedule his car in for repair. If this is inconvenient for [redacted], we would be happy to pick up his car, or shuttle [redacted] or provide him with a rental car for the day. Please have [redacted] contact us. Again, thank you for the opportunity to make this right.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Regards,

I have received a voice mail from the aforementioned business outlining one possible solution to this matter however I returned the message to [redacted] requesting a financial settlement as his manager ([redacted]) and their technicians have looked at vehicle multiple time. I was told by [redacted] there was nothing else they could/would do for me. I am still waiting on a returned call from [redacted] as far as a possible financial settlement.

Mr. [redacted] has failed to return any of my 6 phone calls. I even offered to personally pickup and deliver his vehicle. We even offered to provide Mr. [redacted] with a rental car during the repair period so he would not be inconvenienced.

Review: I took a vehicle to dean's auto in richland, WA. I dropped off vehicle and couldn't get a call back from [redacted] for over a month.I had to repeatedly stop by the shop to find out about progress. I was never given an estimate after asking multiple times. I was first told [redacted] found a computer for my vehicle and the price was between 400-500, he didn't know exactly, I told him I just replaced it for 300 a year ago from orileys auto parts. A couple days later I was told he couldn't get a computer, and it had to be sent in to have it rebuilt, then I was told the best solution was to remove tbi, computer, distributer, and intake manifold and replace it with a carburator. Their attempt to convert it failed. I paid them 2,124.53 upon completion. My view was that it was a terrible experience, but it was over so I paid what they asked. When I picked up the vehicle I had to return it after only driving it home. Sometimes I could drive it back to the shop, I had it towed back once.the reason for needing additional repairs were related to the distributor and carburetor. The timing was way way off, I'm told that the distributor isn't aligned properly, and they kept setting the timing with a light. I had to adjust it by ear on the side of the road so it would run, the distributor was loose, not tightened down. After the timing was set it ran great for about 12 miles until I slowed down on a dirt road and the carburetor was pouring fuel with the key on. I towed it back to dean's and asked them to change the oil when finished with the carburetor. When I picked it up they said they couldn't reproduce the over fueling after letting it idle for 2 hours.no oil change.at this point I was informed the motor was weak and couldn't be fixed, and the blowby was because the rings were bad. Myself and countless others have removed the air cleaner to access the motor and there was never a drop of oil before, later I was told by a licensed mechanic that I hired to fix the problems. That it was caused by over fueling. The very last time I went to pick it up it wouldnt run.Dean said he would keep an eye out for another motor.when I took it to another licensed shop they diagnosed the poor performance and the inability to run on carburetor, spark plugs, and wires due to overfueling.they quoted me a price and stated on my invoice that removing federal emissions, and fuel system was not the proper resolution to what ever was the original problem. I called and talked to dean who said it would be some time before he could rebuild the carburetor because [redacted] was out of the office.we agreed that he would tow it from the shop it was broke down at and someone would remove it and he would personally rebuild it.the carburetor was filthy, never rebuilt, just taken off of a simular van from an auto wrecker and installed.after 24 hours dean's made no attempt to tow it or contact me. I then asked dean to pay for the repairs at the shop it was broken down at, he was unwilling to compromise.I bent over backwards to find a resolution.the vehicle was towed back to my house where I was forced to do the repairs myself.there is countless problems not listed. I have pictures of everything from the thermostat leaking at the intake, cracked fuel hose, bolts laying on the motor etc.... in resolution I have installed a new carburetor, plugs, and wires.I changed out the fuel regulator and it runs good now. I'm waiting to come up with the money to have the motor evaluated by a licensed mechanic to dispute the claim of a bad motor.I haven't had one harsh word with the employees of the establishment and feel if I would have taken my vehicle out when they couldn't provide an estimate as required by law. I'm also told that the 14 hours they have in repairs is excessive even if it would have been completely fixed.Desired Settlement: I would like to be compisated for all additional repairs, towtruck and parts exceeding the invoice amount I paid. I am content with the total invoice at dean's minus the extra money I've had to pay to bring my vehicle to good working order, the way it was supposed to be when I picked it up from their shop.
