Put a dress on layaway and was not made aware of their policy before the purchaseI went into debra dees weddings inc. on the 21st of October 2015 at 1 oclock in the afternoon looking for a wedding gown. I was with my mother and cousin at the time. I found a dress on the rack that fit me dress number ([redacted]/ivory, white, vanilla/ 16-30). so we decided to put it on layaway the dress cost 1700$ and we put 600$ on it. then left the store. and went back on January 23rd at 3 oclock in the afternoon to look at bridesmaids dresses. I then asked to look at my dress and decided I didn't want it anymore. I then asked the owner of the shop if I could use the credit from that dress to pay for my bridesmaids dresses and my mothers dress. and she said no, she said "the only way I could get my money back is if the groom died or something like that" so then we just put small deposits on the bridesmaids dresses and the mother of the bride dress so order them in. and left, I then noticed that my receipt saying nothing about final sales or no refunds but on the receipts for the bridesmaids dresses and the mother of the bride dress it says " All sales, Layaways, special orders are final. no exchanges, returns, or refunds". Desired Settlementi would like the store credit cause I am not satisfied with the wedding gown. I would of liked the option of choosing another dress or using the money for the bridesmaids and mother of the bride dress. she stills gets the money but in a different dress.Business Response The date that [redacted] came into the store was October 21,2015 at 1:16pm she placed a gown from the floor on layaway, as opposed to ordering the dress in. Once a gown is place on layaway it is removed from the floor and reserved for that customer until her balance is paid in full. We do not offer exchanges(unless there are severely extenuating circumstances) after the day of purchase. At the bottom of all our receipts states: " All Sales, Layaways, Special Orders are Final. No exchanges, returns, or refunds." When she came in again on January 23,2016 at 2:14pm, she had told me she was going to purchase bridesmaids dresses and had $600 to do so. I helped her find the gowns that she ordered in. She then told me she wanted to use the gown that she had put on layaway's money for these bridemaids dresses. I told her that we don't do refunds or exchanges on layaway gowns, once you purchase them they are yours, we are simply doing a courtesy by allowing a layaway program to make it easier to purchase your wedding gown. I asked if there was a reason for her changed mind, she stated she had purchased another gown someplace else. I asked if she wanted to try it on again to see if she still liked it. She agreed, and put it back on. She seemed pleased with it, as did her mother. I assumed that by stating that she still liked it and still wanted it that this situation was resolved. She had not talked to me since the date of ordering her bridesmaid dresses. I diligently did ask her if she still liked the wedding gown and wanted it. She stated she did. Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)My receipt does not say final sale at all. [redacted] she made it sound is that there is no way I could exchange the dress or get a refund so I just put up with the dress and my mother tried to point out some good things about it so I wouldn't be so upset. Everyone else is happy with the dresses they ordered so why can't I. [redacted] I also did not say I purchased another gown. Cause I didn't. Where would I get money to simply buy another gown when she's holding my 600 dollars from me.Final Business Response I am not certain why your receipt states demo only.... obviously the gal who helped you put your deposit through under "demo mode". Our receipts all state final sale otherwise. I have contacted the customer and resolved the issue.
