The picture I'm sending is for the bearings we replaced . They are the stub axle bearings at the differential. When we moved the axles to shim the axles for  the alignment we found the bearings had play. We replaced those bearings. The bearings he is talking about are the outer bearings at the wheels. We never touched those outer bearings.

This letter is in response to [redacted] inquiry. I want to apologize for taking so long to answer this complaint. The customer [redacted] has only been to our shop one time. He called and asked if we could align his 1995]aguar X]S.
He said he had been at three different shops and they...

told him to give us a call.  When you align an X]S, if the rear camber
needs to be adjusted you have to shim the rear at the stub axles which are at the differential.  When we moved the axles
we saw the inner bearings where bad. We advised him it needed bearings and we could replace them at that time with
no additional labor, to save him money. We never replaced the outer bearings.  We never heard from [redacted] again until this letter came. If he would have called us, I would have explained to him.
It has also been over 2 years and 5000 miles.  We never replaced the outer hub bearings, so therefor I don't see ho\v we are responsible for his problem.  We have been in business for 33 years. And in those 33 years this is the.first inquiry we have had. I have included a copy of the original invoice. If you have any questions, please call me at the number listed below.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
[The invoice I have from the shop very clearly shows that the rear bearings (inner and outer) were replaced as a set.  You cannot replace one without the other. Seals and grease were black/charred (see the attached picture DCP_1797.jpg) -- this is inconsistent with the business-owner statement.
I have saved the parts which he claims were replaced as part of the alignment (see the attached picture DCP_1810.jpg), and it is crystal clear form inspecting them that they are the original 18 years old pieces]

Review: I had the rear hub bearings replaced and the car aligned at this shop. I wanted an alignment, but was told the rear hub bearings must be replaced too, because they were worn. Cost -- over $1300 parts and labor.

Since then, the car has covered only about 5000 miles, driven on nice and sunny days.

Not long ago, I discovered a problem with the driver's side rear wheel -- there is play (not small) in all directions, and the wheel wobbles. Excessive road noise.

Removing the hubs and inspecting the bearings confirms that the they actually NEVER replaced the wheel bearings. I personally saw the parts removed from the car the second time -- they were blackened, rusty, the rubber seals were hard and gouged -- everything but new (or within 5000 miles of service). Without a question, these were the original 18 years old ones.

Simply put -- the shop charged me for parts/labor for a job that never happened.Desired Settlement: I am having the car fixed at another shop and want my money back
