CESI Debt Management Program is not a viable option if you wish to make your debt management process easy and painless. I have encountered nothing but poor communication and frankly lazy and incompetent employees that have negatively impacted my credit with their apathy. I was enrolled in a Consumer Credit Counseling program locally in my community for a year and it was a wonderful experience. All payments were made on time and they were proactive in communicating with my creditors. They closed the local branch of [redacted] and I was forced to seek out a new company to help me pay down my debt. I researched CESI and saw that they have an A rating with Revdex.com and only a small number of complaints. I really find that hard to believe after my experience.
I enrolled 14 accounts into the program and set up an automated date to draft my payment. The money was taken from my bank account on Sept 26, 2016. To this day, November 2, 2016, I have payments that still have not posted from September. I called around October 1 when nothing had posted to my accounts. I was told this was normal and that the payments were not even sent out until 9/30 due to processing time. Okay. I called back around 10/7/16 after I noticed that there was no check number for payment to one of my creditors. I was then told that that payment did not get sent and it must have been a mistake. CESI told me I would get a refund check for that amount of $83. I personally set up a conference call between CESI and this creditor when they did not want to accept the proposal amount. The creditor agreed to the amount but later canceled me from their program again when they did not receive this payment. I had to call several weeks later as I did not receive the refund check for the payment that was not sent, so it had to be reissued. I received the refund check in the mail October 28, 2016 to make a payment that was due in September. Needless to say, I have gotten several harassing phone calls from that creditor in the meantime. I was checking my creditors accounts online daily and even calling on occasion to see if a payment had been posted.
I called back weekly to CESI to find out why my payments were not posting. Second week of October, I was told that the issue would be forwarded to their "Resolutions" department by [redacted] (a very nice gentleman). He asked me to give the resolutions department approximately seven days to call the creditors and investigate why the payments were not posting. That was on October 14, 2016. I called back October 20, 2016 and was told that there weren't any notes on my account from the "resolutions" department and to call back in 24 hours. I called back the next week due to time restraints at work. Again, there were "no notes" on my account as to why the payments sent out September 30, 2016 had not posted to my creditors accounts. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was placed on hold for several minutes. She was very nice and offered to walk back and speak to the accounting department about the issue. She offered to call me back, but I declined and wanted to hold instead. She came back on the line and told me that there had been an error in accounting and NONE of my electronic transfer payments (12 creditors total) had not been completed on 9/30/2016 like it was documented on their website and what they had been telling me all month. I told her I wanted to withdraw from the program and that I wanted my money back and would make my payments myself. She told me they were re-issuing the electronic payments and they should post the next day. This was around October 18-19, 2016. I asked her about the two accounts that required payment by paper check that had not received their payments, either. She stated that paper checks would be reissued to those creditors but would take 5-7 days to even make it to them. I, again, found out this was not done as I received a "refund" check in the mail yesterday (November 1, 2016) for the amount that was intended for one of those creditors. In the meantime, that creditor (whom I also bank with), withdrew every last cent from my checking account to satisfy that credit card payment while I waited for that payment to post.
I put a stop payment on my October draft to CESI due to these ongoing issues with my payments. I received a phone call from a creditor stating that they received a notice from CESI that I was "dropped" form their program for missing a payment when in fact, I had already told CESI to withdraw me from the program due to my dissatisfaction. That is unacceptable and leaves me in poor standing with my creditors who do not know the whole situation. Best Buy actually said to me "I don't know what happened. You have a 100% history of making online payments until October of this year." That is a direct result of CESI and the disservice they have done to me and my creditors and my credit score which now shows late payments. They still owe me $36 for a payment to Paypal that never posted. Th
