I've been receiving threats and phone calls saying that a law suit would be filled against me. The guy who called me yesterday asked me to be prepared and be ready to receive a court summons tomorrow afternoon due to the breach of contract, and they will go to my house or work of employment with the court papers. I have been receiving calls all day and night. I have never received any letter regarding this debt. They are even threatening to send me to jail. I called the company that sold them the debt and filed a complaint. I was informed that, that is not the way collection was supposed to be handled and they would look into it. The original loan was for 300 dollars on 2017. The harassment and threats need to be addressed and stopped, he was screaming at me using an abusive language.

I've been receiving threats and phone calls saying that a law suit would be filled against me. They have threatened to come to my home and place of employment. I have been receiving calls all day and night. I informed them several times when they called that I was in the Doctor's office being seen and couldn't speak with them right then. They told me that was my problem not there's. They are even threatening to send me to jail. I called the company that sold them the debt and filed a complaint. I was informed that, that is not the way collection was supposed to be handled and they would look into it. The harassment and threats need to be addressed and stopped.

I sincerely apologize for that collection agency's collection tactics. I agree that is not how you go about collections and that tactic is not something that we approve of. We will be pulling all account notes and call recordings to investigate. Once we've listened to all the calls we will then issue an infractions and resolution report to that agency. If this agency did in fact call and threaten you and spoke to you in that manner, I will be sure to punish that collector. If you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call me at *** and ask for Jalia.

I've been receiving threats and phone call saying that I committed fraud on a payday loan when I ask for any proof I am then not giving any proof whatsoever but still the threats remain on a regular basis however according to Iowa Code *** Prohibited practices. This is not allowed so at this point I'm tired of the phone calls I'm tired of being harassed and I'm tired of the looming threat of Court over my head and being arrested and thrown into jail.

Your account was outsourced for collections to ***. I would like to apologize on behalf of that agency for that collectors unauthorized collections tactics. I have requested call recordings and account notes to do an investigation to issue remedy demands. Your account has been closed and you will no longer receive calls regarding this account. If you have any further questions please contact me

For the past couple of days I have received threats starting that a law suit will be filed against me. These people have called my family as well with these threats. He guy that called stated that I had to make arrangements now per the lawyer. So I called the original people that I owed and I was advised that Chebalt has the account and was provided the number. I was not able to speak to anyone. This is all too much and to be receive threatening calls about going to jail is disheartening. The original company that the debt is due to advises also that they will forward the info to their corporate office because that’s not their practice and she apologized. This needs to stop and who ever has been contacting me on your behalf needs to be stopped

I received a small loan from *** back in October 2018 of close to $700. The monthly interest and payments were ridiculous and I wish I never did this, but I'm young and wanted to handle things on my own. I paid off the ENTIRE balance by February 2019, including the entire interest amount. I learned my lesson the hard way. Then I get a call from Shanikwa at *** saying I owe more money. I pulled out the contract, went through every line and payment with her over the phone. She insisted I was wrong and continued to harass me for my credit card, number or account information saying that there was a separate/new contract that I signed for more money?? That is a complete lie, as I am now an executive director at a large software company. Then after I denied this, they went into my bank account and took the money out of my bank account!! Without my authorization! Luckily, the bank manager noticed and reversed the transaction--thank God. They will never release a dime, and their CEO is a client of mine. Then recently I get a call from this company Shebat or Chebat whatever saying I now owe another $700 to ***! And that this is going to court Friday. Luckily, I have many friends that are judges & lawyers in the court system and they all confirmed that this was BOGUS. Additionally I checked all court records and found no information that Chebat threatened me with over the phone. I tried calling *** to ask why they sent this to Chebat after I had CLOSED my account and PAID everything off 6 months + ago, and they said "Sorry, pay Chebat" --no help at all. Chebat never answers the phone, it's some ridiculous voicemail, when they do call--it's late hours of the night, threatening me, asking for my card number or bank account number for money that I DO NOT OWE.

To Shebat/Chebat: I have this ridiculous loan debt paid off, and have for the last 6 months. I recommend dropping this scam right now. I am not your usual underprivileged citizen you are used to dealing with. Do not contact me again, and I won't pursue either. DO not threaten me or my wife again, we have everything recorded and in writing as well.

I have read over your complaint and received all call recordings and correspondence regarding your account. After review I think the confusion is with ***. I can assure you that you aren't and have not received any calls from Chebat Portfolio Management as we do not make outbound calls. I have requested that your account be closed down with *** and marked as a previously paid with Issuer. Regarding your voicemails, I usually return voicemails the following day and to my knowledge you called us yesterday. However, I apologize for not getting back to you in a timely manner. I hope my efforts are satisfactory and if you need anything else please do not hesitate to call or email at ***.

I request that ***,Chebat and *** cease all communications with me. I appreciate their response.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

I live in the state of Michigan and I had a payday loan with ***. I was paying them through a debt management company until my husband and I separated and I couldn't afford it anymore. I called them to pay on my own and no one called me back. Then I get a call from another company saying they are representing Chebat Portfolio Management. Apparently Chebat sold this loan to them and they told me it was in December 2018. I had been paying the payday loan company since February of 2019 for a full 6 months at $100 a month! I kept receiving phone calls from an unavailable number threatening me with serving papers at my residence or my place of employment. I found out that this is illegal in the state of Michigan since this is a tribal loan and I have filed complaints with the Michigan Attorney General, FTC, and Michigan Department of insurance and finance . So I called the payday loan place back and they told me it was just sold on August 6th - just two weeks ago!!! I don't know who to believe at this point. I am more than happy to pay the balance but they can't expect one lump sum over the phone with NO proof of a balance and they haven't been willing to work with me on this!

Good Evening Ms.,

I have reviewed your account and we purchased your account July 30, 2019 from ***. Your account was immediately placed out with *** for collections, as we don't do collections here at Chebat Portfolio Management. I sincerely apologize for the negative experience you've had. I would encourage you to contact *** at ***. I would also urge you to call your bank to report the fraud in attempt to get your money back.

I appreciate that they told me the date they purchased this from *** but it doesn't tell me the amount that it was purchased for. So now I have three different dates, from three different companies and STILL no one has sent me paperwork showing an actual bill. By law, I am entitled to paperwork showing the actual bill that I am showing I owe. I"m not sure what fraud he is talking about, but *** cashed every single check that was sent to them. I will get in touch with the new company he mentioned, but they are the ones threatening to sue me and take me to court when they just got the paperwork! This whole thing is ridiculous!

Regards

Was told by a short term loan company they sold my account to you guys. I have received several calls about legal action happening in 24 hours. When I call back no one answers. This supposed attorney is Chris Collins with ***. Left a voicemail asking for a call back nothing now. My father is receiving phone calls as well getting more information about this than is allowed since they are not speaking with me.

Good Morning Mr. I apologize for the delay in response. I have reviewed your complaint and see that your account is actually outsourced to Clearview Resolution Services, they can be reached at ***. I would not pay this *** and I would inform them that you have already spoken to the owners of the company and you are aware they are fraudulently attempting to collect on your account. If you have any further questions please contact me at ***.

I was told my ori***l creditor sold my account to Chebat Portfolio Management and I have tried to call them numerous times in relation to this loan I had many years ago that was already paid in full. I had a gentleman call me saying he purchased the loan and I could pay it off if I made a payment of more than the loan was actually for to begin with. I was nice and explained that I had already paid this loan and he asked to whom. I said, I was not sure as it has been years and I would check and get back with him. He said, "You better or I am going to serve you with a summons at your home or business" and proceeded to list my address and place of business. I replied, "I am not really worried about that, but I will go look and call you back" as he was being very aggressive at this point. He replied screaming with, "You aren't worried about it, well you should be. I will freeze your bank accounts, I will sure you for everything". I replied,' I said I would go check" to which he replied, "No, never mind, I will just sue you, it is too late to pay it now!" I will pay something I owe and I know I have paid this loan off in full. I do not appreciate being bullied, yelled at or the "scare" tactics used. I googled this company and found this appears to be a common occurrence and there is actually a law firm with many individuals that have complained to sue Chabet. There isn't even anything on my credit reports regarding this loan.

Good Afternoon ***, I apologize for the delayed response. I have been in contact with the leasing agency, ***, as they are the agency who holds temporary ownership of the account. I have demanded they shut your account down and forward all correspondence and call recordings. I will review them and then sanction this agency for their inappropriate collection tactics. I sincerely apologize for what you had to endure and can assure it will never happen again. Please feel free to email me for updates at ***.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and will contact them directly. I have spoken with *** and had no issues with them and have paid them for this bill. I am starting to think that maybe someone with no relation to this whatsoever has been contacting me trying to get me to pay them as well. Regards

I was told by a company that my supposed collections were bought by your company and gave me your phone #. No one answered. Somehow I got a phone call from another company who advised they were handling the collections on a supposed loan but they don’t do anything but threaten me with the court system and are having me pay double what I owe! And they give me no papers and I haven’t even got papers from this company in regards to this collection?!?. I am horribly confused and I do not want to be taken for money that I may not owe! Nonetheless not informed which by law I’m suppose to be?!!

I was told that my account had been sold to Chebat and I have tried numerous times and left several messages for them to return my call. I am trying to find out what is owed to pay off this account and cannot get anyone to respond. The website that it tells you to go to on the message no longer exists which makes me wonder how legit the company is.

Good Evening,

I apologize for the rude and threatening calls. I have closed this account with *** and have requested the call recordings, on Thursday. Upon our review they did not follow the approved script. We have written up the collector and sanctioned this agency for the collectors inexcusable actions.

My original loan with ***, which I later found out from my states attorney is an illegal loan in IA, was sold to this company. They have given my information to a company by the name of *** Mediation who is calling and harassing me repeatedly at work and also harassing my husband and other family members. I have repeatedly asked them not to contact me at work and still they continue and have even threatened to have me arrested and get me fired from my job. Under lA law this loan is not legal and I do not have to pay it back and actually should be refunded what I have already paid to this company. I honestly don’t care if I get any of my money refunded but I do not owe anyone anymore money and I know it is unlawful to harass me. Any help would be appreciated.

I had a loan account sent to Chebat and I have tried every effort to contact Chebat to get a payment plan set up and get this paid off. Chebat has been impossible to contact. I call multiple times a day and all at different times, but each time I get the SAME voicemail and I have left numerous detailed messages and even an email or two. No one has contacted me back from this company and now I have a second company *** Recovery blasting my phone and my EX HUSBANDS phone saying they are a mediation company for Chebat and need me to give them a cc# to get this taken care of. How the heck did Chebat give my account to someone else when I can’t even get a hold of a human being at Chebat!

I emailed Ms. and informed her that her account was sent back to *** Financial on May 17, 2018

I was told by my previous loan company that my loan has been sent to this company to be resolved. I have been trying to contact this Chebat company for two weeks, emailed and phone calls and I have gotten nothing back. No one answers the business phone it just rings and goes to a voicemail saying to leave your personal information. I have left messages and have gotten no phone call back. I just want my account resolved and start making payments. How is this even a legitimate company that handle's people's money and they don't even act professional enough to call people back? You would think for a debt company they would want their money. I just want this matter resolved and figure stuff out.

I emailed Ms. and informed her that we were having technical difficulty with our admin email that was recently addressed. I also informed her that her account was out on lease and provided Ms. with the information for the collecting agency. Ms. also has my direct email address for any further questions or concerns.

I have tried to call and settle a debt that the old company *** says they signed my account over to Chebat. I'll I get is an answering machine. I have already gotten a call from a restricted number saying that I was going to be served papers on 3/27/18. The number I was given to call *** refused me payment arrangement. They didn't bother to give me their company name.
I would just like for Chebat to call me on my account ***.

I need to know if Chebalt placed my debt with ***? I received a phone call from a Mr. Richard *** stating that he was coming to my house to serve me legal papers that I had to sign for next week.
