On August 2nd 1, the owner, was called on my cell phoneThis is before I could even look into the situation at allThe guy that called me was upset that his dog smelled like urine and proceeded to tell me that my employees did not want to touch the dog because he was hiding under his bed and did
not want us to touch himI then went on to tell him that I do not and will not force my employees to touch a dog that they do not feel comfortable touchingHe then proceeded to yell at me and tell me that I should force my employees to bath the dog or muzzle the dog and then bath himThen while still yelling at me said, "You will hear from my lawyer" and hung upWe are ALL trained on how to handle these situations and it is ALWAYS to error on the safe side and not got bitIt is far worse for EVERYONE involved if a dog bites a person than it is for us to just leave the dog beYou also have to touch the dog to muzzle the dog, which is worse if the dog is aggressiveIt is better to have the owner put the muzzle on and/or help hold the dog while the grooming takes placeWith that said, in this particular situation whether or not the dog would have actually bit someone is irrelevantAfter looking further into the details I found that these clients were asked at check in if they wanted to add on a bath before the dog goes home and they declined the bathMy employees had no reason to go into this dogs run and forcefully take the dog out for a bath that was not requestedWe would have been more than happy to of given the dog a bath for free at check out had they of even said anything at check outI pulled up the video of the dog calmly walking to the office and did not see anything out of the ordinaryThe dog did NOT appear dirty, the owner pet the dog in the office and then they both walked calmly out the doorWe let EVERY dog outside for potty breaks times EVERY day, doesn't matter where in our kennel the dog isEVERY dog goes out timesWhile the dogs are outside for these potty breaks we clean their runsWe also will clean any messes that we see while we are there and EVERY run is checked for messes as the last thing we do before leaving at the end of a shiftWe check them not only for urine, feces, and vomit, but also to make sure that each one has water and a bedNow, with that said, we cannot control what a dog does while we are not thereThe dogs do go potty in their runs while we are away and sometimes the dogs do get smellyIf a dog gets excessively dirty and is friendly we will from time to time pull a dog out and rinse them offThis is pretty rare, as most dogs do not get that dirty between shiftsWe have a certified groomer who does the grooming and if the dog is not signed up for a bath she has no reason to come get the dogIt is up to each individual owner as to whether or not they want to pay our groomer for a bath or notSome of our clients prefer to just give their own dog a bath once they get home, some don't want the bath for medical reasons and that is 100% their decision for their dog.Our facility is VERY clean and ANYONE can come in ANY time that we are open for a tour We would be happy to show you around the kennel, no apppointment needed
