I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below
[Provide details of why you are not satisfied with this resolutionPlease respond here ONLY] The figures that *** provided are laughableThe bottom line is that there was an opportunity and I was mislead, and unhappy with the serviceI have the prerogative to hire or fire if i'm not happyThere was ample time to complete the job between rain eventsIt was not completed. New contractor gave me no excuses, a great price, a professional, excellent communication and finished during the same rainy timeframe.

To whom it is concerning, the following is my official response; Mr***'s claim that DeckDude of Louisville has somehow treated him in an unprofessional and/or deceitful manner is utterly and patently absurdThere was an agreement made and a contract was emailed that I'm not sure Mr***s read
because he never bothered to sign it. I would attach it to this email, but my computer has since unfortunately crashed. We were to remove the existing floor boards, hand railing top boards, and replace them with new treated lumber. Also we were to replace any badly damaged floor joists as we had both agreed that there was at least one, possibly more. We did get the demo done around the insane record breaking rain. Nearly inches fell during the month of July (when we were working on his job, four times the local average!), not to mention that the summer of has turned out to be the 3rd hottest on record Having said that, after courting Mr***s for some 3-weeks to get him on board, (he made the initial contact to us), he "negotiated" our price down from $to $2000, opting to do his own pressure washing and staining (which were worth far less than the value allowed). This is where I should have just walked but I didn't because at the time we only had a few jobs on the books. But we did have two jobs in front of him and he was made aware of that fact. people generally try to get a better deal than what you first quote them so I try to do things to combat this like, a) have multiple packages sent from my suppliers on the same run to keep delivery costs down, b) store refuse at my shop until which time I can justify disposal fees, and c) scrap and/or burn refuse to avoid these fees altogether, (but sometimes this isn't possible). When people want me to give them something for nothing, or next to nothing, I am forced to take these actions to make up the difference or simply turn jobs awaySo working around the rain and oppressive heat we were having a hard time completing jobs, (as were nearly all outdoor contractors in the area). so we kept hoping to get to Mr***s' job and we would tell him "We will probably be there on such and such a day..." but each time the start date kept getting pushed back because of the weather. so Mr***s called me up after a few of these unavoidable instances to threaten me with being fired if I wasn't there the next day. Due to the fact that we were still on another job, we made it there the next afternoon (leaving our other customer hanging) on th e most oppressive of hot days (the humiture was actually degrees) and we managed to get a few of his boards off, but realizing that most of his rusted nails were breaking off on us, (preventing us from being able to effectively use our time to get through the removal process, we opted to leave and come back the next afternoon with better removal tools than what we had. I actually had to buy over a hundred dollars worth of better extraction tools than what I had currently owned because Mr***s' boards were the hardest to remove that I had ever come across in years of being in this business. Each board had three nails nailed in at every joist and those tough old joists weren't letting them go easily. But let that goThe next day we got there with the new equipment, had to use the equipment to actually break the boards off, but we finished the demo. This brings me to my next pointOnce we had all of the deck boards removed, it became apparent to us that there was a problem with Mr***s' deck joists. They were salvageable but he had active termite nests in/around some of them. We could have been irresponsible and just kept it to ourselves, but being the good natured people that we are, we notified him of the termites and told him we'd return after the problem was rectified and there had been at least hours bwe could return (so the poison could settle in). Mr***s immediately proclaimed that he'd have someone there by am the next morning. We said "okay, well just let us know". After several days of no reply from him we called him to get a status report. He let us know that his exterminator was running behind and that he'd call us as soon as he had completed the job. well, we didn't wait around because with the crazy weather we were still behind, so we had moved on to get a jump on our next job. Six days after our leaving because of the termites he called saying the treatment was complete and so we reminded him that we would have to have a hour incubation period for the poison to work in which made a whole week. he was furious that we weren't coming the next day, but we were clear about that from jump. There was an issue with the two guys that I sent to remove the remaining nails before we were to get started with laying the new floor and finalizing the job. They broke a piece of MY equipment and didn't bother telling me that they left after being there a couple of hours and that they didn't complete the task So I wouldn't blame Mr***s for being frustrated at this point for their lack of getting finished while they were thereThey didn't tell him what happened, they just left. So after agreeing to pay $to have the job done, Mr***s paid $down to cover the cost of his materials and the delivery of those materials, which we did do We did all of the demo and removal (I think there were a few boards that we'd actually missed when we hauled away all of the refuse from this project because they were sitting in a different area, but it was just so hot that day that we were in a hurry and missed them), but all in all, we were 95% ready to get to laying the new floorSo of course the "new company" got the job done in hours! All of the hard work to be able to do that was done by us and we have not been compensated for itSo my rebuttal claim is as follows; a) Mr***s owes me, *** ** ***, $for doing the demo on his project b) Mr***s owes me, *** ** ***, $for the disposal of his old deck boardsc) Mr***s owes me $for the 16' 2xand the 8' 2xthat I'm assuming he gave to the "new company" TOTAL: $ His down payment covered his materials and delivery ($800) and subsequently his disposal costs of $He says I owe him $for boards he had to buy, which there was no call placed to me regarding, only the letter stating his complaint to the Revdex.com so the balance that he owes me if that were true, would come to $ Thanks for the opportunity to share the other side, *** ***
