Decker's Auto Service Reviews (1)

Review: Car would not start and got towed there. Got charged $90 to push the alarm button. They said the killswitch went on, that I had 2 alarm systems installed and quoted me $150 to remove the alarm. They charged $45 to charge the battery. When I came with a friend to discuss the concerns the owner got aggressive when we asked why would the battery go dead. He said it was the alarm system that should be removed due to draining the battery.Total paid $135. I brought it to an alarm company who charged me $50 to remove and they said it was one after factory alarm. The prblem persisted. The car would not start. I looked at the battery and it said right on the battery=purchase date 2004. I paid $125 for a new battery and the car is fine.Desired Settlement: I am requesting my money back since they charged me for an alarm issue that was not the problem. They wanted more money from me to remove the alarm that was not the problem. Plus they were wrong about the alarm and in essence charged me $90 to push a killswitch button that was easy to get to and for charging me to charge a battery when being the experts they should of known the issue was with the battery. I would of only had to pay for a new battery.

I do not wish to speak to these people. They bullied me as a y woman, got caught in a lie and do not know what they are doing.

To Whom It May Concern:

In response to the recent customer complaint from Lori [redacted]:

Ms. [redacted]'s car was towed into my auto body shop because it was having a problem starting. I diagnosed it with a faulty alarm and kill switch. I dropped the lower dashboard, reset the alarm module, tested the battery, and did a re-charge load test. Subsequently it tested fine. (The customer was not even aware of alarm system.)

Had the problem been a battery, I would have recommended one. I sell them and keep them on-site. The issue was not the battery, so a new battery was not recommended. The problem was with the alarm system. I repaired the issue with the alarm system and Ms. [redacted] then drove the car out. I was not informed of any problem with the car after this initial visit.

In a discussion with Ms. [redacted]'s friend, an electrician, who had worked on her car a week prior to her bringing it to me, I simply asked why he, as an electrician and an expert himself, had not detected the alarm problem. I would not consider this an aggressive inquiry.

In my 40 years of business, I have worked with many female customers and have never received a complaint in regards to being aggressive or recommending unnecessary repairs. The vehicle was clearly functioning fine when the customer drove away. The alarm system was repaired. The customer was charged for the work provided and no refund of any kind is warranted.

I appreciate the opportunity to clarify this matter. Please let me know if there are any more questions.

Sincerely,

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

It is typical as a bully,he would say he did nothing wrong. This compnay hass no awareness of customer service in the demeanor, he needs to be right. it is a "good ole boy" company. The bottom line is he tried to charge me $150 to remove an alarm I was aware I had that was not the problem. He did not take out the dashboard, he walked me to show there was a button for the killswitch that he pushed right under the steering wheel that he charged me $90 to do so.. He was trying to make me out as being stupid which again is typical when in fact he was wrong about the alarm and wrong about the battery.

I am requesting a good-faith refund mailed to me or I will continue to purse resolution. Worst case, I will make sure my feedback is known to all the important entities that govern and recommend auto-service.

Regards,
