Thanks for your response. I have maintained the deck yearly with the finest preservative on the market,
 
Armstrong Hardwood/Ipe  preserve @ $50/gal. I have no issue with the wood or the craftsmanship, but
 
only with the nailing system. The creaking sounds when walking on it and the constant rising nails
 
is the issue. I wouldn't mind hammering back the nails once a year ,but once a week for ever is not
 
right. Sorry ,the cost was $16,000 with the extended deck done extra. I don't know about " ring nails ",
 
they look like thin head finishing nails. I welcome an inspection by [redacted] and maybe he can resolve

In regard to the complaint issued by [redacted], I would like to correct some of his statements. First, the deck cost was $15,000.00 and was built in June of 2008, over six years ago. Second, we have a computerized CRM system for customer service...

calls and, although we have no record in the system of any contact made from [redacted], there could be the possibility of our missing a call, and if that did happen, we apologize. Decks Unique installed [redacted]'s wood deck with 5/4 x4 mahogany decking boards using stainless steel 15 gauge ringed nails, which is a common installation method to install decking. In fact, we still install with this method today. Mahogany is a natural wood and will contract and expand with the weather, especially if it is not maintained on a regular basis. We recommend preserving decking yearly. If it has not been maintained the boards are more likely to loosen and fasteners can move causing seasonal maintenance to be needed .[redacted]
Decks Unique gives a 5 year workmanship guarantee.In the name of good customer service, and even though [redacted]' deck is going into it's 7th year, we will return to his home to inspect and tighten any loose fasteners and/or boards, if he wishes.

Review: Purchased a mahogany deck for $17,000 a few years ago with a defective nailing system that keeps on popping up. I complained a number of times and they said they would come to fix it.

I am home all the time and never saw anyone. The nails constantly rise up making the deck a hazard to walk on ,especially with out shoes, around the surrounding pool.

I keep a hammer outside and every few days I have to go over the whole deck to make sure the ten grand kids don't stub their toes while walking around the pool. But even with all my work

we still had a few bleeding toes. I think I did not pay $17,000 to have to go through all of this on a regular basis. Before something serious really happens , I think the [redacted] , should acknowledge this latent defect and repair our deck and his reputation with us as well as with others.Desired Settlement: I am tired of complaining and getting no satisfaction. I want [redacted] to stand up and finish the job the right way , the $17,000 way!!! I hope I don't have to pursue further action.
