I first met with Mr *** in the fall of to discuss painting the house on Bayer Ave, Ft WayneI bid on the work, but he chose to
hire somebody else
I again met with him in early in September He asked us to "touch up paint" the house, as the previous work was not satisfactoryWe agreed upon a price of $750, with a deposit being due right awayWe started on the work right away, and found, once we got into it, that the work previously done was so poor, that we practically had to do it all over again
I decided to stick to my bid, though, as I was expecting more work from him
The house was occupied at that time
Two of us worked on the house for almost days, as the weather was good thenNo deposit was sent to me, and on inquiry it was "due to be mailed"I called and texted repeatedly, pointing out to Mr *** that the weather would not hold, so it was important that I receive the deposit and a contract from him
I asked him for his address, so I could send him a contract to sign, but he ignored my requestThe deposit was also not paid until about a month after I had agreed to do the work (and we had already started)
When I had not received the deposit nor a signed contract after days, we ceased work on the propertyIn the meantime, the good weather was coming to a close, and other, paying, customers claimed our attention
Once I received the deposit of $there were only a few decent weather days left, not enough to really get going at finishing this job, as I told Mr ***
While the job is not finished at this time, and while I returned the remaining paint to Mr ***'s agent on January 2nd, 2016, we did work on the property and a charge of $is very reasonable for the work done
In my experience, a signed contract is sufficient for Code Enforcement to be lenient
