Defore And Associates

Review: My husband & I were long time [redacted]s (active duty military family) and went to DeFore & Associates for several years for our yearly tax preparation. This last year we got stationed in [redacted] on new orders, but kept one of our properties in [redacted] During 2013 filing, we discussed the proceedings of this year's tax filing with [redacted] ("[redacted]"). He assured us that we could still go through his business to file via email/phone, and that there would be no issues. I contacted his office to set up an appointment for late February via telephone. Nobody from the office called that day, later explaining [redacted] had confused us with another family with a similar name, whom he had already completed taxes with. So, we set up a second appointment time (in the meantime I had submitted our tax organizer & documents via email on March 6th). Next phone appointment was Friday, March 20th @ 10:45am). I had to text [redacted] to call me, as he was already 45 minutes late. We went over a small amount of info, because my appointment was cut short & he had another appointment. He said he would call that evening, but did not. I then text him & emailed him & left a message with his staff in March 27th. He responded March 28th requesting 3 documents, which I then submitted via email. I text him & emailed him again on April 2, 6, 9. My husband text him on April 12th asking if we just needed to do our business elsewhere, where [redacted] replied, "[redacted] so sorry don't go to H&R Block. I will finish your return by tomorrow." He did not. The tax deadline has come & gone without any further communication from DeFore & Associates. We are filing our taxes today, April 23rd, with H&R Block. It has been immensely stressful, taxing on our time & efforts, as well as created a financial loss for us.Desired Settlement: I request that DeFore & Associates pay for any extra cost incurred due to late filing. I also request a formal apology acknowledging the unprofessionalism and disregard of respect for my family.
