We are responding in writing as requested to the complaint referenced aboutWe contracted with them to replace their side garage entry door and remove the rear patio double French entry doors with a transom
aboveBecause the existing patio doors had wooden interior shutters mounted on the interior, the client was hoping to save the doorsOur plan was to pull the existing doors and transom, install the saved doors into a new double-door frame and mount the saved transom in the new frame.We were to start the project by Oct 1st and be completed by Oct 15thThe carpenter that was to install the doors was off due to health reasons, the last week of September and the 1st week of OctoberWhen he returned he needed to complete the job he was working on before starting this jobThere were no other field personnel available to handle this work.Therefore, we started the project on October 16", We removed the French patio double-door and frame, We found extensive rotten wood underneath the door threshold and behind the jambs and in the hardwood flooringNote: This hidden damage was not part of the original contractWe replaced all the framing we thought needed to be replacedWe installed the saved transom frame on the new doorframe and installed the doors and new frame in the openingThe doors were trimmed and adjustedOn Oct 17, the client offered to find pre-finished hardwood flooring to replace the damage flooring, after samples we brought were not a good color matchWe did not hear back from the clients until October 29, when she explained she still had not gotten out to look at pre-finished hardwood flooringShe asked if we could take care of itWe were unable to find a pre-finished hardwood flooring to match the existing floor so unfinished hardwood flooring was purchased, stained to match, varnished and installed on November 14, We returned to repair the kick-plate beneath the garage entry door, the sealant did not adhere to the masonry block when this was initially installedIn addition, we tried to adjust the door more for the owner but we were unsuccessful.On Thursday December 11, we will be meeting with a representative of the door company, at the client's home to trouble shoot what can be done to rectify the problem of the reused doors not fitting as nicely as they should into the new frame that was purchasedRegards,Gary DSales Consultant
