Dek With Us Reviews (4)

Review: We contracted with [redacted], doing business as Dek-With-Us, on May 4, 2013 to replace our deck, balcony and pool bench with Lumberrock, and to build new deck stairs, replace railing and spindles with baked aluminum. He required as 25% deposit at the time the contract was signed. We gave him a check for $5,496. He had work scheduled through the 3rd week in June, 2013. We were having company in July, so we agreed he would begin our work the first week in August. As there had been a fair amount of rain we were not concerned when Mr. [redacted] did not contact us or begin the job at the agreed upon date. On August 19 we began calling Mr. [redacted]'s business telephone number and cell phone number leaving a message to return our call. We made multiple calls and sent an email. Mr. [redacted] did not return our phone calls or email until the evening of August 29th leaving us a voicemail message that he would begin our work the week of September 10th. It is now September 14th. Mr. [redacted] has not called us, nor has he contacted us with his intentions. This is twice he has told us when he will begin our work, but has not done so and has only contacted us once. He again, is not returning our calls.Desired Settlement: We would like Mr. [redacted] to refund our deposit in cash, preferably meeting him at his bank. At this point we would not feel comfortable accepting a check from him.

Regarding complaint # [redacted] sent by Dr. [redacted], I would like to let you know that the matter has been resolved. Shortly after the complaint was filed, the deck in question, as contracted, was built for Dr. [redacted]. The deck was completed within the prescribed start and completion dates as noted in the signed agreement. I was one board short (which had to be special ordered), but the job was substantially in early October 2013. Attached is page 3 of the agreement which states the start and completion parameters in paragraph 18. I spoke with Dr. [redacted] today and he expressed that he was satisfied with the deck. I apologized for not having built the deck sooner than I did. I also asked if he would be amendable to expunging the complaint from my record at the Revdex.com. He said that he was amendable, but would consult with his wife. Moving forward, please take note of this action regarding my account at the Revdex.com. Thank you, [redacted] Dek With Us

Response:

We appreciate the good work of the Revdex.com. The problems which led us to file a complaint against Dek-with-Us have been resolved, but we feel that potential customers should be warned about problems which we had in dealing with the company. W

e also have some very positive things to say about this company and its owner [redacted]. Here is information which we suggest including on your web site. (Let me know if you think it should be modified in some way.)

[redacted], the owner of the company Dek-with-Us, is very skillful and competent, and does excellent work. However, we also encountered some problems working with him as the contractor for our deck. We were concerned when we heard nothing from him at the time when he had said he would start work on the project, since we had given him a substantial down payment. For weeks our persistent efforts to contact him via telephone, email, and letters were unsuccessful.

We had asked him to rebuild our old deck with new materials, and for the most part the new deck is very nice.

However, without consulting us Mr. [redacted] made certain features of the new deck different from, and in our eyes less desirable than, they had been in the old deck. In summary, we think Mr. [redacted] can be relied upon to do excellent work, but working with him may involve problems of communication and attention to customer wishes.

Best regards,

Review: My partner and I signed a contract with [redacted] and Dek-with-us on April 20th. We paid a deposit of $2575.00 at the time of signing. We were told 6 weeks out from that date we would have our construction started. A week before 6 weeks was up, I tried contacting [redacted] several times and then finally after a crazy amount of time got a hold of him. I was told that the guy that builds his decks quit and he behind. he said 3 more weeks. so, a week out from the 3 weeks I made 41 phone calls and then finally got a hold of [redacted]. You have to hope he is going to answer because he does not return calls and does not return messages left. I told him I have changed my plans and cancelled a vacation to leave it open. he said he would be out next Tuesday between 8am and 9am, June 25th and he said he would call me on the 24th to confirm. I heard nothing from him on the 24th so I called and again no answer. I text'd him and received a text that said we will be out. I took a day off of work without pay and just sat here...he did not show up. and is not answering his phone or text messages!!!! at this point, I want my money back and to hell with this contract I signed. he does not care about his customers!!! Horrible customer service and relations.Desired Settlement: I want a refund of $2575.00. this is absurd that we do not get any phone calls back and just by chance get him. he does not hold his contract to be something of value

I would like to take this opportunity to formally respond to complaint [redacted].

Review: I had a deck built of HDPE plastic built by Dek-With-Us in March, 2013. As the temperatures rose through summer, the plastic expanded and the horizontal 2x4's on many of the railing sections began to bow inward and outward. This is a workmanship deficiency and I have a 10 year warranty that warrants "all workmanship to be of good quality, free from faults and defects" in my contract with the company. I originally called Mr. [redacted] on June 30,2013 and left a message detailing the complaint. He left me a message on my phone stating that he would get to me in a week or so. Since then I have not heard from him via phone or email. I have contacted him through his website on 7/5/13 and 8/4/13. I also called him and left messages requesting acknowledgement of him receiving the call and letting me know that I was on his list of complaints that needed addressed. I left messages on 7/8/13, 8/8/13, 8/12/13, and 8/25/13. Each time that I called him I also emailed him. I have received no response at all from him acknowledging any of my contacts. I am extremely disappointed that a minor repair job could not be remedied. I am certain that it could be fixed in an hour or two by adjusting the length of the 2x4's.Desired Settlement: I want him to come and fix the problem before the end of September while the weather is still hot or compensate me to pay another deck builder to remedy his deficient workmanship.

Response:

The business owner of Dek-With-Us, [redacted], came to my home on Saturday and attempted to fix the expansion problem. I am satisfied that the problem has been remedied, but I need time to track the expansion/contraction. I would like for Revdex.com to show this complaint as “Resolved”. Please reply to this message to let me know that it has been received.

Review: Hired Dek-with-us in 2010 to build a deck and they did a wonderful job. Still have the deck and love it. Re-hired them this year (early 2013) to build a deck-surround for a semi- in-ground pool and had to cancel due to disagreement with site developer (new estate site). Requested refund of deposit (25%) and was told I would receive it within 10-14 days. Did not receive deposit and have tried numerous times to get ahold of [redacted] via cell and have not had a response to my multiple voicemails. Now, their website is down and still no responses from voicemails (2 months later). Considering small claims court actions.Desired Settlement: Want refund of $3606 (25% deposit).
