I understand that business can be refused to anyone at the dealer's discretion, however...the owner of Del Mar Motor Cars refused us any service whatsoever based on another customer's requestWe were interested in buying a car that was sold to the dealership by my boyfriend's parentsThe man told us that a condition of the sale was that the car NOT be sold to us specificallyIt was so completely unprofessional, and caught us both off-guardHe explained that he preferred to honor their request than do business with us because they were such valued customers, and even went as far as to tell my boyfriend that he needed to CALL and make up with his mom in order for him to consider selling the vehicle to usIt was UNBELIEVABLE to either of us this stranger would have the gall to interfere in such personal mattersI have never experienced such discriminatory, unfounded corruptionI would not recommend that anyone do business with this dealership because of how unethically my boyfriend and I were treated

The owner of Del Mar Motor Cars showed us a car last week that I’d already looked at a month before, but he didn’t know thatThe car was listed at $(and we were told it was on the lot for a while and could probably pay less, especially given all the cosmetic deep scratches, etc) While we were test driving it this time, the owner took the paperwork inside and switched the price sheet to $10,900! Then when we asked him about the damage he said it was in a minor collision, probably on back bumper, not hard enough to require any body work When we got home we looked the carfax and found that not only had it been in an accident, but it had exceeded the $CA repair limit and is listed as having STRUCTURAL DAMAGE!!! In speaking with a few car experts, they said that structural damage will void the warranty and could be very dangerous for our daughterThey proceeded to say that we wouldn’t be able to resell it either DO NOT BUY FROM DEL MAR MOTOR CARS!! They are liars and dishonestWe found a car with less mileage, same year and trim, pristine condition and carfax for $at another dealer!!

We had been looking for a car for several weeks and had dealt with a lot if unappealing behavior Our experience with Del Mar Motor Cars was totally different We found them through USAA car buying program and confirmed the value of the car through ***.com We called and asked for the out the door priceThey called us back and gave us not only the out the door price, but they reduced the car price to fit into our budget with Tax, registration, and transfer/doc feesNo issues with price, we got a dealThey had the car fully serviced and this checked out when we took it to our own mechanicIt is owned and operated by a family and they employ low pressure sales tactics and are very sincere Overall they delivered what they promised, no hassle, and while we are only one day out, we are totally satisfied by their sales practices and product

R-- started out like a really nice guy. Then it to the "finance mgr " ...told him a scheduled payment would late in text msgs DIRECTLY to him! Said he'd cancel payment so it wouldn't hit my bank account. Yep, let it hit. He was a frickin DISASTER to talk to/deal with from the start. He was very shady! From there I had to deal w/ the daughter...I called once to let the know when I'd be paying & the TRACKING devices YOU pay $500 for- the daughter to says to me- " Yeah, we have you in Las Vegas!" I had NEVER took that car there- Ever. Once my insurance lapsed & they will CALL the cops on you to get your car towed(I paid the ins pmt very next day). Cop pulled up on me within seconds leaving my driveway. ..he got nothing.
The $2000 warranty is A SCAM.
They employ illegals that SLEEP there on the property like in-house SECURITY. Sad. This experience will keep me for LIFE from buying from these type of "dealerships". He was just another wolf in sheep's clothing. What American dream..? Everyone is a crook.

Review: Bought a 03' VW Beetle from this company and their sales pitch was pretty slick and convincing at the sale, but from there, no return emails or calls what so ever on their part. When I picked up the car the owner, [redacted], who I made the sale

with initially was on vacation, and the two gentlemen who helped me were vague, non-committal, and shady. Per the contract the starter motor was to be replaced, they could not confirm that had been done, and one of them said.

"I think I saw that motor in the other room" When I picked up the car it was infested with ants, with debris in the back seat (at the sale, they told me it would be detailed) My biggest issue is that there were no rear head rests in the car and

they told me that they had to get those for me as it is a safety issue. They didn't have them there when I picked up the car like they said they would, and I hounded them for weeks with calls and emails to inquire about getting them

with NEVER any kind of response. Finally in one of my last ditch effort calls to them, they said they got the headrests and that I could pick them up. My Wife picked them up, and they were the wrong year, style, and color, one of them

barely fit, and the other didn't fit at all.Desired Settlement: I would like to be compensated for two new headrests for the car. VW of San Diego quoted me $270.00 each, ($540 total that doesn't include tax)

For what it's worth, I have never formally complained about a company or service before, it makes me uncomfortable, and it's not who I am.

Didn't hear back re pic of fabric color so called VW with vin # and they think the fabric is grey flannel, so I purchased them hope they match. let me know when you can pick them up. By the way sorry I wasn't present when you picked up the car had family emergency. The starter was replaced and the person you spoke to when picking up the car wasn't in the loop regarding the repairs so wasn't able to verify so he didn't want to make a false claim, I am sorry you felt that he was acting shady, He just didn't want to give you mis- information.Regarding the ant infestation I cant imagine what that was all about we don't deliver cars with food wrappers and ants what so ever! We would be glad to offer you a complementary full detail.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Did [redacted] not share this email with you?... I am floored and dumbfounded at the lack of communication with you and your company. He called me the middle of last week to “take care of the issue with the headrests” and I sent him this email the following day. I’m a reasonable person, and like I said in the reviews, I have never formally complained about a company or service before in my life, but you folks have me way beyond frustrated. To get this email from you after all this time “attempting” to address my issues and concerns, it’s ridiculous and sad.

At this point, I didn’t bother checking specifically to see that the starter motor was replaced, as it still makes the same noise occasionally (and with what the guy said and how he acted when I picked it up) I’m not coming near Del Mar Motor Cars, Ship the headrests to my work (info. is in my signature)
