After living here for more than just a few months, I hope the complainant comes to understand how a townhome association worksPerhaps, then, she will realize there is more to my position than simply ensuring her "checks get cashed in a timely manor sic." Our association may be small, but it is a friendly and respectful communityI sincerely hope the complainant takes this opportunity to rethink her actions and criticisms, and she chooses to move forward with a more positive and courteous attitude - not only towards me, but towards the association as a whole

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 9, 2015/11/04) */
As the acting president of the Del Mar Townhome Association, I am responding to the surprising - and unnecessary - complaint filed against the association by our newest resident, the complainant. Although I did not cause the incident with her...

garage door, the complainant is focusing on me as the source of her anger.
As a first-time home owner and member of the association for only two months (at the time of the garage door incident), the complainant is obviously unaccustomed to how an association (and owning a home) works. And, perhaps, she has never had the experience of filing an insurance claim. It is understandable that she might have the expectation that a claim could/would/should be settled in a week's time. However, in my experience, a claim fully resolved in LESS than two months is rare.
Upon receiving the claim adjuster's report and offer from the insurance company, I immediately sought repair bids from local garage door companies. However, due to the way our garage building is constructed and the challenge of replacing the complainant's garage door, I had difficulty finding a company willing to take on the job. Once I agreed to the costly bid of a still-reluctant company, I sent a deposit check to secure the job. Next, the contractor special ordered a hard-to-find wooden garage door to match the remaining doors on the building. An estimate of delivery from the door manufacturer was three to four weeks. Then, after the door is received by the local garage door company, we still have to wait for the contractor to have an opening in his schedule to perform the installation, as it will be a labor-intensive repair.
On October 3, I notified the complainant via text message that her door was being ordered. Apparently, unsatisfied by my notification, she spent the entire month of October sending me text messages - with bullying and hostile language - accusing me of not being "responsible" enough to do my job and threatening to take legal action against me (aka the association). She also attempted to rally other members of the association by riling them up against me in hopes of hastening the arduous repair process (already in-motion). In my opinion, filing this complaint with the Revdex.com (a blatant misuse of the organization) is simply an extension of her bullying tactics.
Regarding her comment "I have heard that she lives on the property but she is never around. I feel this is completely unprofessional as an association president should be available to the other unit owners at all times." Having just moved out of an apartment complex, the complainant is clearly confusing me (and the association) with a landlord. The officers of the Del Mar Townhome Association are volunteers and receive NO compensation for their time and efforts. They take time out of their regular jobs/schedules to perform tasks/duties on behalf of the association. Therefore, she is way out of line to criticize me and to pass judgment against me for my schedule, my job, my ability "to do my job properly..." and whether or not I am present "on the property" 24 hours a day. I am responsive to anyone who is respectful of me and who is not speaking to me in a bullying or manipulative manner.
Regarding her comment about "billing issues" and how I do "not see to it that her Association payment checks get cashed in a timely manor sic..." On August 17 and September 8, I explained to the complainant via text messages that unexpected circumstances led me to take a temporary position out-of-town. And, due to the extraordinarily long hours, as well as the renewal of the position, it continues to keep me away from home. Hence, it has been difficult for me to cash anyone's check since August.
Also, the complainant is now two months delinquent with her association dues (July & November). No prior notifications were given to me for either missed payment. So, again, she is out of line in her criticisms against me.
Furthermore, properly managing one's check register allows for tracking uncashed checks. Had this really been an issue for the complainant, she would have noticed that I was finally able to deposit her checks on October 5 - eight days prior to her filing her Revdex.com complaint.
Regarding her comments "...the woman who claims to be the president of the association..." and her assertion "If she is not able to do her job properly, then maybe she should turn it over to someone who can." After living here for more than just a few months, I hope the complainant comes to understand how a townhome association works. Perhaps, then, she will realize there is more to my position than simply ensuring her "checks get cashed in a timely manor sic."
Our association may be small, but it is a friendly and respectful community. I sincerely hope the complainant takes this opportunity to rethink her actions and criticisms, and she chooses to move forward with a more positive and courteous attitude - not only towards me, but towards the association as a whole.
