Delaware Used Furniture Outlet Reviews (2)

Review: I made a purchase on 10/6/13 for a GE Washer Machine for $275.00 with a $40.00 delivery fee for a total of $315.00. We asked for delivery on 10/8/13, but the sales person indicated that Tuesdays wasn't a good day for delivery. My fiancé stated Wednesday would be the only other day he would be available for delivery, and the salesperson said Wednesday is a good day for delivery with their company. She asked the time we would like for delivery, and we said 5:30 knowing he had somewhere else to be at 7:30. On Wednesday at 6:30 after no show from Delaware Used Furniture Outlet my fiancé decides to call to see if they were still delivering our appliance. The owned said yes and someone would call when they were on their way. My fiancé told them he moved several things around where the washer was being installed, so that the delivery guy would be able to install the washer where it should be, and make things easy on both parties. Someone called around 7pm to say they were on the way, but the delivery didn't arrive until 8:40pm in the evening. I find this unacceptable for a few reasons as most people would. First, 8:40pm is NOT normal delivery hours. Second, I have a child whose bedtime is 8:30, and is being awakened by the noise of the delivery person moving and banging furniture around. Last, I assumed after they called at 7 that the merchandise would arrive shortly after, and not 90 minutes later.

I called on Thursday to tell Delaware Used Furniture that I was unsatisfied with my purchase because of the late delivery of product. I told them this was unacceptable for the reasons stated above, and they stated if we didn't want the product delivered we should have called, but why would we cancel the delivery if to our knowledge the machine would be here in the next few minutes, or so we thought. The owner stated they ran into issues with getting a door off of a refrigerator or something to that matter, and had run into traffic. He seemed to make all kinds of excuses, which is still not my problem. Also, the owner stated they do not normally start deliveries until 7pm. If this is TRUE, their salesperson should inform consumers before taking their money and when scheduling deliveries, instead of saying we work around your schedule. Arriving at 8:40 is not working around my schedule.

What kind of Customer Service is this? I don’t feel I am being unreasonable by asking for a refund of $40.00 for the delivery fee. I understand things happen, but if they were running behind schedule the best thing they could have done was call to notify us of the situation and tell us at that time, so we could understand what was going on. I had already paid for the product so I am not going to play games with my money, or a product that has been purchased, and leave it out in limbo for Delaware Used Furniture Outlet to decide when they will deliver my product. The consumer should not have to keep calling to figure out if their delivery is still coming, or if the delivery person is stuck in traffic, or whatever the case maybe. That’s bad business, poor customer service and it is absurd.Desired Settlement: Refund of Delivery-$40.00

Review: I would like a full refund on the original refrigerator that was purchased. The first fridge that we had was not cooling properly, so [redacted] the store owner came out and put fr-ion coolant in the fridge. After that the fridge still wasn't getting to a normal cool temp range. I was out of town a lot and would look at the first fridge every week on the weekends. So we called and told [redacted] about that issue, he then came back and removed the first fridge and replaced it with a cheaper model. Now the second fridge is leaking all over our brand new floors. The left door to the fridge will not open unless you open the right door first, due to the seal on the door that needs to be replaced. The filter in the fridge was taped and when I took off the tape to look at the filter, the filter was broken into two pieces. This is has been a on going problem since 6/13/2015. [redacted] has been informed of all issues from the first fridge to now this second fridge. I had spoke to [redacted] today about the fridge once again, and he refused to refund me the money, and to remove the fridge.Desired Settlement: I would like this fridge removed from my house, before it causes anymore damage to my floors, which now would need to be replaced because of so much water damage. The first fridge cost $900 and included with that was a $40 delivery fee. So the total purchase was $940.
