Delgadillo's Towing & Mobile Auto Repair Reviews (4)

My name is [redacted], owner of Delgadillo's Towin & Mobile & Auto  Repair. This is my response to [redacted] complaint to the B B. During the month  of September 2013, [redacted] called I [redacted] to come check his Volkswagen Passat at  his home I then towed it to...

my shop for diagnosis and repair, wh~re I received an initial  payment of $400 to begin the extensive diagnosis and repair, pr9cess to get the vehicle to  run. Mr. [redacted] had told me it had died on the road somehow, bur that it had in no way  overheated. I received the vehicle with the engine components p'rially torn down  already, as the vehicle had been to another shop previously. After. evaluating the vehicle,  I determined that it had in fact overheated, contrary to what I hadl been told. The  overheating was evidenced by rusted cylinder rings/head gaskets1 and cylinder walls; and,  cracked PVC hoses, a cracked water reservoir, and the presence of water in the motor oil,  and rust in the coolant water (leading to rusty cylinders). His codlant hoses were old, and  his coolant reservoir had to be replaced. The engine was not fixable at this point. Mr. [redacted] was informed.I didn't give Mr. [redacted] a time line as to when the vehicle would tie complete. Tearing  down an engine takes much time, not to mention any parts that I right have to send over  to a specialty shop for them to redo, any parts I might have to or~er, or parts I had to locate out of my city. I informed Mr. [redacted] that in addition to the above problems, that  the engine was severely rusted, and that the coolant reservoir and hoses needed to be  replaced at minimum. He informed me that he did not want to in1Uf excessive repair  costs, he just wanted to get the car up and running for the purpose of selling it. He was  very flustered at my diagnosis and about how serious the state ?fpte vehicle was, but he  paid me another $400 after two weeks to get the car running. I ~ormed him that the car  would not run very well, or very long if he chose not to replace parts, redo the engine, and  repair all areas that required attention. He again told me he just ~anted to sell it.I had to send the cylinder head to the Aaron's Automotive machine shop, which took six  weeks for them to do. I got hurt at work in march 13, 2014, which set me back six weeks.  Mr. [redacted] was informed of my injury and my situation, but he didn't care. I have been attending physical therapy and doctor visits from December 20131 until March 2014.After he threatened me, I had to get a helper to assist me, as my shoulder was sprained and I still could not do the engine work alone. I have enclosed a labor estimate regarding the work that was to be completed and the cost of repairs, which Mr. [redacted] signed. I completed all of the work on the statement, plus put new spark plugs which I did not get paid for. Though I completed my work, the issue of the water reservoir remained, and the work needed was never approved to make the car stable enough to run normally. With regard to the water reservoir, Mr. [redacted] did not want to replace it. A reservoir is necessary to retain water and make pressure to circulate and cool the car so it will run, period!Vehicles overheat without a proper reservist, but Mr. [redacted] still declined to buy a new one. I offered to seal the reservoir with marine epoxy (durable epoxy used to repair boats) as a temporary solution, and Mr. [redacted] agreed. One day Mr. [redacted] came back in a truck and told me to give him the car whether it was ready or not. I told him it was not ready, and the reservoir was patched and he needed a new one asap. It was meant so that he could start the vehicle, put it on a trailer, and transport it. The patch was not meant to put the car on the road to drive normally. Mr. [redacted] paid me $160 when he picked up the vehicle, throwing the money at me on the ground.Later on that same day, Mr. [redacted] phoned that his car got hot, as I had informed him it would. He wanted his money back, but he chose to pick it up b~ore the engine and work were complete. That was the end of our business together. Mr. arcia was very disgruntled and difficult to deal with the entire process. Many 0 our encounters involved some form of intimidation and threatening on his part. I did my best to remain calm and professional, and did not return such behaviors in kind. IIf you have any questions feel free to contact me at ###-###-####. Thank you for your time and consideration.Sincerely,[redacted]
