Delta Air Compressor Reviews (1)

Review: I have screen printing business, and I bought new automatic screen printing press that needs air to operate. The company that manufactures printing equipment gave me list of air compressor companies in my area that had worked with, and recommended to use one of those. I decided to go with one that was close to me so I went there and I purchased 5HP Chicago Pneumatic Air Compressor and CPX20 refrigerated air dryer for my business. The price on those items was much higher than buying directly from the factory. When I spoke with the sellsman ([redacted]) I asked him why would I pay so much more for the compressor that I can buy from factory for less. He explained to me that they charge more because the provide with with great service. The price included delivery and installation, and the warranty that comes with new equipment would be covered by them. Basically he explained to me that if there is issue or I need parts they mail them to me or they come the next day to fix it. I was also informed that the factory warranty that covers the equipment does not guaranty that the issue will be resolved quickly. Since air compressor is a vital part of my work, and I can not run screen printing press without it, I decided that it will be a good idea to pay more for the equipment and have piece of mind that I will be provided with good and fast service. I purchased the compressor and dryer on July **, 2013 in the amount of $4000. I arranged with the sellsman that the compressor would be delivered, installed and air hose would be connected to the equipment, I had to buy all the electrical parts and the air hose. They would have all the necessary fittings with them when they install.

The compressor was delivered and installed on July **, 2013. But since the air hose did not arrive on time, I asked the person that did the install to leave me the correct fittings for the air hose and I would connect it my self. He did that but only left 1 set of fittings. I told him that the air hose has 2 ends and I need 2 sets of fittings. He agreed and told me that he has more fittings in his truck and will bring another set. He presented me with a bill for $54.26 for the fittings and after getting money went to his truck. He did not provide me with the 2nd set of fittings. At the time I did not notice that and when the air hose arrived on the next day I realized that I only had 1 set of fittings. I called [redacted] office and spoke with [redacted]. He told me it was not a big deal and they will mail me the fittings. He asked me to email him pictures of the pieces I needed and he would send it the same day. I did email him the picture. After one week I did not receive the parts so I decided to call again. I spoke with [redacted] again and he told me that he shipped the fittings week ago. He used USPS to ship it, so I assumed that it was lost. I asked him to resend the pieces using FedEx or UPS and, I even offered to supply the shipping label as I have UPS account. He told me its not necessary as they use FedEx and he will ship it again. Another week went by and I did not receive the parts. I called [redacted] again, spoke to [redacted] again and I was told the the parts were sent out 2 weeks ago. I reminded him that we spoke week ago and he supposed to ship the again via FedEx. He replied that he did not tell me that and that they do not use FedEx at all. I asked to speak to the sellsman that sold me the compressor, I think his name is [redacted]. The sells man told me that it was a mistake and he will mail the fitting himself personally. This was already Aug. **, 2013. I had scheduled installation of the new press on Aug. **, 2013 so I was running out of time. Without that fitting I would not be able to test the press and I would have to reschedule the insulation. I waited till Aug. ** for the fittings and since they did not arrive I ended up going to 2 Home Depot stores looking for them. Those fittings are for 3/4" air hose and Home depot did not have those. I ended up going to 3rd store that sold plumbing supplies and got those fittings there. It cost me maybe $10, but I was very angry because I was supposed to be provided with great service by [redacted] company, and on top of that I paid for those fittings.

After the new press was installed on Aug. **, 2013, I called [redacted] again to complain about the poor service. I spoke with [redacted] who told me that I'm making a big deal about $5 part and that he did send it, but it went to the wrong address and was returned. I asked him about shipping fedex and again he told me that I'm making things up because they dont use Fedex. At that point I realized that he was lying and the parts were never sent. That made me think that if there is an issue with the compressor [redacted] will not fix it right away as they told me at the beginning. I informed [redacted] that I was not happy with their service and that there are many more companies in the area that I can go with. I asked him what is the return policy. He told me that I'm getting nowhere talking to him, and to talk to the sells man, [redacted]. I called the office again and was put on hold. After 10 minutes the secretary took my number and told me hat [redacted] was on the phone and would call me when he was done. He never called me. I waited over the weekend and on Tuesday I called [redacted] again. I did speak to [redacted] and he told me that I'm making a big deal about $5 piece and that I can buy it at any Home Depot. I told him I don't believe anything that he told me and that he was lying to me. He said that he personally mailed the pieces to me via fedex. When I asked to find out where they are, he said he did not know. If the parts were sent fedex you can easily track the package and see what happen to them. There was no tracing because the parts were never sent. I asked him what the return policy was and he told me no returns. He offered me additional year of warranty to make it go away. I told him that I have not faith in [redacted] anymore and that what he tells me doesn't mean anything. I told him that I'm not happy with his company service and I want them to pick up the equipment and refund me the money. I told him that I want to resolve this issue in professional matter, rather than disputing the charge on the credit card. He told me to go ahead and dispute the charge. I did file a dispute with the credit card and I'm waiting for answer. However I did see that there was another complain the Revdex.com website files in May of 2013, so I decided to file my complain as well. I hope that [redacted] will take this issue seriously and refund me the money. This is no way to do business.Desired Settlement: I would like [redacted] Air Compressor company to refund me the money and pick up the equipment.

Response:

On July **, 2013 the customer Joker Inc. came into my store and purchased a 5HP Chicago Pneumatics air compressor unit, a refrigerated air dryer, and a flex hose to connect between the air compressor and dryer for a cost of $4,000. The price was for the air compressor unit, air dryer and flex hose.

After the purchase the customer asked if we could connect the unit for him. We normally charge a minimum of $350.00 for this service. Out of the goodness of my heart, I told him if he supplied the electrical B/X cable to connect from the air compressor to his power supply and the air supply hose that we would connect from the air dryer to his shirt printing machine then we would connect it for him. I also offered to sell him the 100’ air supply hose that would connect from the air dryer to the shirt printing machine, but he said he could buy it for less.

On July **, 2013, which was a Saturday and we normally charge time and a half, we delivered the air compressor and connected it with the electric as we had offered to do at no charge. The shirt printing machine was not there to connect to but our technician did leave him several fittings that would adapt from to the air dryer on one end of the hose and on the other end of the hose to his shirt printing machine. The cost of the additional fittings was $54.26 which he paid for. However, without seeing the shirt printing machine we were not sure what kind of air connection it would have so we assumed. After Joker Inc received the shirt printing machine, he requested some additional fittings at a value of $5 -10. We put them in an envelope and mailed them to him at no charge. Unfortunately, they never made it to the customer. The customer became irate because he claimed we never sent him the fittings. These are standard fittings and can be purchased from any hardware store, plumbing supply, or even Home Depot. These fittings or hoses have nothing to do with the air compressor, air dryer or flex hose that the customer purchased. Furthermore he purchased the 100’ hose from another vendor.

The air compressor, air dryer and flex hose that the customer purchased from us are in good working order and come with a one year complete unit warranty backed by the manufacturer. We are one of many manufacturer representatives, so if the customer does not like working with us, he can use another service center for maintenance or future repairs.

Air compressors are not returnable. We have a large sign in the shop and office that states that. Returning an air compressor is equivalent to returning the boiler in your home after it is installed because you didn’t like the plumber, even if the boiler is fine.

To sum it up, the air compressor, air dryer and flex hose that the customer purchased is in good working order. He wants to return them because he feels we took too long to get back to him. Air compressors and accessories are not returnable only replaceable. There is nothing wrong with the air compressor, air dryer or flex line that would warrant any repair or replacement of any defective part at this time.

If there is any issue with the air compressor, air dryer, or flex hose that connects from the air compressor to the dryer, he has a one year warranty backed by the manufacturer. He can have us perform any warranty work if it should require any or any other service center in the tri state area. We also offered to extend his warranty on whatever he purchased from us to two years at no additional charge, but he declined.

In over 30 years in business, this is the first customer that has ever wanted to return an air compressor.

Sincerely,
